Vice President Joseph R. Biden probably thought he was making a compelling argument for the House to pass immediate immigration reform — but what he did instead was admit his ancestors were lawbreakers.

"but what he did instead was admit his ancestors were lawbreakers."

In other words, he was preconditioned for a liberal executive position in which deceit trumps civic responsibility.

One set of my ancestors come over from Ireland during the famine. They were made citizens on the boat in the harbor before they landed.

Sorry, but I think your family lore is wrong. During the time of the Irish Potato Famine (1840s), there was a five year residency requirement before immigrants could become citizens.

I'd also check to see if their 'sons' enlisted in the Army at Ft. Sumter since the US Army only occupied that facility for a few months with zero in the way of reinforcement before being shelled out by the Confederates. It remained in Confederate hands until near the end of the war but was a literal pile of rubble by then.

My great-great grandparents came escaping the famine, and they didn’t all come here legally,” he said, Politico reported. “They didn’t all come legally. And the existence of the system isn’t all truncated like it is now.”

Biden is so full of crap. If they came during "The Famine" (in the 1840s) there was no such thing as an 'illegal immigrant.'

There were no restriction in immigration then. There was also no Federal dollars to hand out to immigrants then either.

They were totally on their own, something Slow Joe could not even comprehend.
