BUDGET DEAL SPARKS REVOLT - The Mount Vernon Assembly's emphatic No!
American Spectator ^ | 12.13.13 | Jeffrey Lord

The Ryan-Murray Budget Deal. The Mount Vernon Assembly. On the surface, one issue has nothing to do with the other. In reality? They are tied together, the very existence of the first — and the stunning lack of credibility of Speaker John Boehner — explaining the reason for the second.

The budget deal, announced Tuesday night with much fanfare by House GOP Budget Chair Paul Ryan and his Senate Democrat counterpart Patty Murray, was instantly panned by conservative groups and, among others, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin. Rush said that the House GOP was “so frightened of being blamed for another shutdown that they gave up parts of the sequester, which had been a hard line on spending.” Hannity said the deal was a perfect example of why Boehner should be removed as Speaker. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote a piece for Newsmax that blistered the deal as follows:

You could tell how bad a deal it was when no one could describe it honestly.

The budget deal has tax increases that can't be called tax increases or no Republican could vote for them, so they are simply described in misleading language. But if you fly, you will pay a higher tax no matter what the politicians call it.

The sequester is broken, and spending will go up.

Because no Republican can vote for spending increases, there had to be offsetting out-year cuts. Of course, the immediate spending increases will be real and the out-year cuts will never happen.

It is sad that no one can tell the truth in plain language. The real disappointment isn't just that the budget deal is so bad that it can't be honestly described. The real disappointment is the lack of imagination and lack of new thinking and creativity...

Article V is not going to be enough.

This ship is sinking faster every day.

What Ryan and co did is treason from where I sit.

Bonehead has my personal invitation to go to hell.

After the last election we had an effort that didn't gain much interest that was centered around removing John Boehner. At that time I was (and remain) a proponent of installing a speaker who is not an elected member of the house. Many people wanted Newt. I was in the faction that preferred Alan West.

Had either man taken the gavel America would be better off today.

To your point- Article V is America's only real hope at this point. The establishment republicans from the Beltway are willing to see it all burn in their effort to crush the Tea Party. Article V has the ability to cross party lines in giving power back to the states.

Oh, I agree that Article V is our only lawful hope.

and yes, we would be much better off with West or Gingrich and Bonehead gone.

They are all afraid that the Tea Party will screw up their cush deal and license to steal. I’ve wondered for many years how someone with two residences and 150 to 180 a year can almost always become a multi-millionaire by the end of a term. Go figure. Nobody ever asks how or why. We both know it isn’t honest or supreme intelligence. They are not honest and not that intelligent.

Not to be forgotten Boehner promised Pelosi immigration reform would be on the table next year. This man is dangerous to conservatism and the future of this nation - he might as well be a full fledged democrat, ditto Mitch McConnel and the rest of the RINO traitors:

PelosI; Boehner told me to wait until next year for immigration reform

As Breitbart News has reported, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) said his "Republican friends" have told him they want comprehensive immigration reform in everything but name only and Democrats and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) have said advocates of comprehensive immigration reform would make a final attempt to pass the bill sometime in the spring of 2014, after the primary season.

Mitch McConnell embraces the anti-Rush Limbaugh playbook

For the last year, the left has engaged in an organized campaign to drive Rush Limbaugh off the air. Knowing they cannot go after Rush Limbaugh directly, the left has launched repeated boycotts against any advertisers who dare advertise while Rush Limbaugh is on. Consequently, some advertisers decided to stop advertising at all on political talk radio, depriving the genre as a whole of resources.

And it still hasn’t hurt Rush Limbaugh.

Mitch McConnell has decided to embrace the same strategy ……

If you haven't, check out conventionofstates.com and consider joining as a volunteer.

If the FL Chapter is any indication, the movement is taking off.

"I’ve wondered for many years how someone with two residences and 150 to 180 a year can almost always become a multi-millionaire by the end of a term."

One of the log term improvements on my Article V wish list is that someday elected members of congress will be required to file a complete financial disclosure form at the beginning of their term and then complete and file their own tax returns every year while they are in office with no accountants, lawyers or outside help.

That is the way I see it Laz. No revolution just decay and then something rises from the ashes if someone does not come in and take us over while we are weak and disorganized.

I’ve seen this before on a smaller scale in business when the course is set and the idealouges are so arrogant, so self-served and so greedy they are not listening to reason and can’t see or don’t care about the destruction. Rational people do not see their motivation. They are not wired in a way even closely enough to conceive how evil and single minded the pathological mind is.

It will come down to some form of survival. Some who are very prepared will not survive and vice versa.

Oh well, Merry Christmas.
