“my knees and back are toast right now.”

I know all about knee problems and have been doing a lot of reading. Tip: Dehydration makes knee problems worse.

Christmas 1821 was a special day for Beethoven. He was 51 years old, and he had just finished his Piano Sonata in A-flat, Op. 110. This sonata, like its predecessor, was to stretch the boundaries of the sonata. The finale was to be a double fugue that approached ecstacy. Beethoven’s deafness had unmoored him from the demands of instruments made by man, and he was now reflecting the pure music of God.

For those who want a detailed analysis of the piece, I have another master class from Andras Schiff. He’s very good at this.

Andras Schiff explains Beethoven’s Opus 110 sonata

This is Daniel Barenboim from his Berlin series.

Goood Evening, Canteeners, Troops, and All The Ships At Sea!

And it's a Holiday Music Fest in the old Canteen! I remember so well all the tunes and fun from my time downrange, and I'm sure you do!

Okay, so Canteen Deejays, I have A CHALLENGE for you!

To these old retired tin ears, NO SONG shouts out "It's Christmas Morning!" like the one I'm desperately searching for. And I wonder if any of you have ever heard it:

"Joy To the World", performed by the Percy Faith Orchestra.

Good luck, lads and lasses!

Sarge will be in the area all weekend, so Let's Have Fun!
