After thinking things over, the Denver Post decided to delete the fact that Arapahoe School shooter Kark Pierson was a committed socialist from their news report. This is from the original article:
The gunman’s parents divorced in late 2011, according to court records. The divorce was finalized in August 2012.
Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated Socialist.
“He was exuberant I guess,” Conrad said. “A lot of people picked on him, but it didn’t seem to bother him.”

If the story does not meet with the liberal progressive goals, it is not news. If the shooter (I will not use his name) were a conservative, that fact would lead and be trumpeted to the skies!
The Arizona shooter, the Newtown school shooter and the Colorado movie theater shooter were all registered Democrats, with left wing beliefs. Adam Lanza was a registered Democrat with a particular animosity toward Christians, the Arizona shooter of Gabby Giffords had attended an alternative school, known as a Small School, a type of school that was dreamed up by Bill Ayres, the Colorado movie theater shooter was studying neuroscience, which is basically a form of brain washing or group think. It is part of the social science dept, not physical science, although it can be.
I have a theory that the relativism of the post modernist thought encourages young unstable minds to become unhinged. I think that the relativism kind of pulls the rug out from under their core knowledge base, making the doubt everything that they thought they knew. For an unstable person this could be devastating.
I am sure they would have done the same, if he was a conservative. /sarcasm

It sounds as though Zeitgeist is essentially Agenda 21 with a slightly different focus. It makes sense that Loughner would be into this, though. The basic premise behind the Bill Ayers small schools is to involve the student in community and political activity and not emphasize grades and testing so much.
I really think that it is the relativity that gets to these guys, though. For instance, Loughner’s teachers said that he often wrote a word at the top of his papers that seemed unrelated to anything that they were doing in class. My guess is that he was thinking about the relativity of the word, like what the definition of “is” is. I just think that when an unstable, immature mind is confronted with this off the wall philosophy, that these boys just loose touch with reality.
I think that it goes the other way around, too. I think that unstable minds are attracted to off the wall philosophies.
This “socialist” deletion is very typical of the Denver Post. They just can’t confine their opinions and prejudices to the editorial page. The reason I no longer subscribe.

Orwell definitely got the year wrong. The government he described in 1984 has not come to pass yet in Western Europe and the U.S. But every year our country seem to get closer to the dystopia Orwell predicted.
