Kathleen Parker: House Republicans rise up against the right wing (gag!)
The Washington Post ^ | December 15, 2013 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 12/15/2013 7:41:41 AM PST by Timber Rattler

’Tis the season, and Nancy Pelosi has given the hands-down best gift to the American people — her phrase “Embrace the suck.”

Miraculous.

Offered to fellow Democrats as a push to pass the bipartisan budget bill, the phrase has all the characteristics necessary to ensure a permanent place in the popular lexicon. It’s succinct, raunchy-esque and, most important, you know exactly what it means. “It sucks, but it’s the best we’ll get.”

(snip)

And Republicans are on fire. The real story isn’t that a bipartisan budget bill has been hammered out but that House Speaker John Boehner has ignited.

He and others of like mind obviously have decided to sacrifice party unity in the interest of national well-being. What a concept. Over a couple of days during the budget negotiations, Boehner turned both barrels on insurrectionists — both inside and outside Congress — especially the big conservative action groups that have undermined any efforts at compromise and bipartisanship.

Depending on how things shake out in the remaining days of the jolly season, we could be witnessing the first shots of an old-guard revolution from which emerges the leader Republicans have been waiting for.

Center stage: Paul Ryan.

Mark Levin posted this comment on his Facebook page:

Try not to gag, but the Beltway media are circling the wagons around their favorite big government Republicans; and notice how they position them as courageously standing up to conservatives.

To add my two cents worth, these GOP hacks and Rat apologists are all whistling past the grave yard as they chortle about their supposed "victory" over Conservatives. They've clearly forgotten that these GOP-E "leaders," who so "courageously" stood up to their constituents, will be needing those very same constituent votes come next November.

I’ve never seen an article about the House DemocRATS rising up against their extreme left wing. This is why the GOP is a bunch of losers.

Hard to believe that people who were able to figure out how to get elected to office are too stupid to realize what you're saying above.

Repubs had better watch it.

Following Revolution II, the guillotine will be an equal opportunity liberal and RINO culling device.

Dems can rally around 70% agreement.
Reps will shred each other over the last 10%.
FR is a perfect example.

"in the interest of national well-being."

Ok, how about this idiot explaining in her next column how continued spending and borrowing is in "the interest of national well being?" We know how this ends, and it isn't pretty.

He and others of like mind obviously have decided to sacrifice party unity in the interest of national well-being.

But Kathleen, the democrats continually tell us that
party unity is the national interest...at least when
their man is president.

What happened to “Dissent IS patriotic!”.

This from the woman who was stupid enough to take the obvious career-killer with her assignment with that smarmy Elliot Spitzer at CNN.

national well being?

does anyone think this budget bill is in the national well being?

Not if you are a conservative who uses common sense and logic.

In a fair primary, when the establishment candidate beats the conservative, we should rally around the winner for the fall campaign.

This is true but it applies IF and ONLY IF the establishment in turn rallies around the winning conservative candidates for the fall.

And there’s the rub. Anybody on FR can cite multiple examples of the establishment selling out conservatives for the general (the VA Gov. Race as a latest example).

When the establishment loses primaries, they take their marbles and go home. Conservatives however, are supposed to rally round the flag, and we are supposedly the sore losers if we don’t.

I’m tired of hypocrites calling me out for the problems within the party. And. I won’t play by those rules any longer. (Not that this party can survive comprehensive immigration reform in any case; it can’t.)
