Dick Morris: Boehner Eats His Young With Attacks on Conservatives
Newsmax ^ | December 15, 2013 | Dick Morris

Posted on 12/15/2013 2:03:12 PM PST by Hojczyk

The Republican Party has always represented a fusion of two broad groups: those who are driven by ideology and those who grew up in geographic areas that are traditionally Republican and joined the party because it was the obvious way to enter politics.

Call them the Nixon Republicans, these folks live in suburbs or small towns and represent the equivalent of the urban big city machines that spawn and nurture Democrats.

But this party could not get elected. It would not have defeated Jimmy Carter in 1980 or elected Ronald Reagan. It would not have been the vehicle for the Gingrich Revolution of 1994, nor would it have taken the House in 2010.

It required a Reagan, a Newt Gingrich, a Ted Cruz, a Paul Ryan, a Mike Huckabee, or the like to animate it, fill it with ideas and carry it to victory.

For Boehner to cast aside these party enthusiasts and conservative workhorses is shortsighted and ungrateful in the extreme.

The tea party types are amateurs. They are small businesspeople, retired military, doctors and so forth that are professionals in their occupations but amateurs in politics. We need to be patient with their learning curve. They learned a lesson in October when the government shutdown backfired. And they won’t make that mistake again. Indeed, their basic acceptance of the Ryan-Murray deal indicates precisely that growth of perspective and maturity.

In this light, the Speaker’s comments are outrageous and cast real doubt on his ability to lead the House in the future.

It’s nothing more than a mediacrat fairytale.

Truly a “country club” Republican.
Unfortunately that’s the norm these days.

“I’ve never liked Boehner”

He’s a Godsend compared to Pelosi as Speaker.

“Truly a “country club” Republican.”

At least he came up the hard way. Large family without wealth, family business success with hard work.

Hey isn’t that the American Way? AND he remembers his roots and hard way up the ladder, even gets sentimental about it.

Can do better for Speaker? Could do a LOT WORSE. And Pelosi WAS.

They’re worried about getting blacks and hispanics into the party?

They’re going to have trouble getting young people into the party. If will die from the top.

Certainly much better that Pelosi.

And much worse than what we really need.

Two of these things are not like the others.

Most of us would think that the election of 2010 would have never spawned a Boehner. Egads, we have to plan better.

Who says the govt shutdown failed? Where’s the proof?
If it went longer the numbers for Obamacare would be falling faster.

Pray America is Waking

He’s supposed to be conservative. Pelosi is a democrat. I expect less than nothing from her.

And you can see what will happen.

He’ll get taken out in the primary by somebody who will be shredded by the MSM and a Dem gets the seat.

What these ninnys don't consider is that they are not dealing with low information voters here as in the Tea Party voters, no way, no sir.
What Beyatch the Mitch McSugardaddy and Bone head Johny has done is to ensure that the old Grout of the Grand old party will be primed in the primaries this spring.

Tea Party Spring.... Arising !

“Certainly much better that Pelosi.
And much worse than what we really need.”

In the mean time, I pray that he receives the best guidance from above and from his peers and constituents; and the courage of his convictions and those of his constituents who have indeed strengthened him in the shutdown battle etc.; and the same for a more conservative Speaker who would replace him.

And in the mean time, he is as far as I can tell a humble and decent, if flawed, human being; which is why he gets teary some times. My father was a very decent, very saintly, humble and manly man, and he got teary-eyed sometimes over something that meant a lot to him, and that is nothing to be made fun of!! But to be admired! Such a man as he could have the courage of his convictions enough to tear up over them. Not a flaw. Speaking here of my Dad.

I just dislike so much, ad hominem attacks! That is the cowardly and intellectually vacuous tactic of the Left! for crying out loud!

When we have the Speakership! for crying outloud!! build the guy up with prayers and advice! NOT ad hominem attacks, not for goodness’ sakes, making FUN of the guy! Give him strength! do not cut him down for his weaknesses!

And if there is a better conservative Speaker in the wings, OK, all for it! Let’s not weaken the one and only Republican Speaker we have, with back-biting. And uncharitable assaults.

just saying! ; )

God Help Us! Our Country! Our Speaker, among many others.

Servus!

"“I’ve never liked Boehner”..."

"He’s a Godsend compared to Pelosi as Speaker."I'm in complete agreement with your reply here. He is certainly not everyone's dream of the perfect speaker, but it bears considering exactly what can realistically be accomplished with Harry Reid leading the Senate, and Obama/Biden (not Romney/Ryan) ruling from the White House, assisted by their cabinet and agency appointees who love rule-making more than anything.

I just can't wait to see what happens next time there's an issue before the DC Court of Appeals, now that we have the new judges there that they didn't want or need, thanks to Harry's "nuclear option".

We had better put differences aside, keep the House, and take back the Senate next Fall, or we will be in even more of a world of hurt, IMHO.

So Gott sei Dank we have Boehner rather than Pelosi now! And if a better candidate arises for the Speakership, Heaven Help him or her as well.
