A Lebanese army sniper killed an Israeli soldier near the border fence near Rosh Hanikra on Sunday night.

An initial IDF assessment, based on data from lookout positions on the border, found shots were fired by a soldier from the Lebanese Armed Forces who apparently was acting alone.

Six to seven shots were fired at the IDF soldier who was standing on a road adjacent to the electronic border fence with Lebanon.

In Southern Lebanon, there is a large Hezbollah presence. I think it’s 50/50 which group actually took the Israeli out.

Israel knows, but it may be reticent to declare the actual group. One would require more reaction than the other, and the citizens of Israel might demand a higher level of response.

I would suggest the culprit will be dead within a few days.

It will be interesting which group he was actually a part of, if we ever really know.

Obama sent a stern warning to Israel not to tempt the poor Lebanese snipers by appearing in the open near the border.

6 shots is not the work of a sniper. It’s just another Muzzie with no markmanship skills.I would love the chance to show the little bastard how it’s supposed to be done.

My great-uncle was in Patton's 3rd Army (6th Armored Division) during the race across France and they ran into a lot of snipers along the way.

They took care of this problem by acquiring (ie stole) some twin 40mm Bofors off some Navy ships at Normandy, mounting them on trucks and half-tracks, and then blowing the begeepers out of any sniper stupid enough to open fire on them.
