My auto insurer sells health insurance. When my employer-provided goes up, I quit, buy through my agent and get two hobby-jobs instead of one work-me-to-death job.
Auto insurance rates will likely also go up because part of the cost covers treatment for injuries.
The plans I am seeing are not only more expensive, the coverage has changed from traditional policies. The basic physical is covered up front, however if you have to see the doctor for any other reason, you must meet the deductible first before the doctor co pay applies. Same for drugs, you have to meet the deductible before co pays apply . When you add in the cost of insurance plus the deductible, most will pay 10 thousand or more before co pays and maximum out of pocket kicks in. Whoever dreamed up these plans must have been working with the Insurance companies, because they are gonna make a killing.

Drastic changes to off-calendar year plans are going to help keep the collapse of Obamacare in the public eye through 2014 and into the midterm elections.

My premiums are going up 33% next year and so are my deductibles. As an example, if I go to the ER today, I would pay a $150 co-pay if not admitted. Next year? $250 co-pay PLUS 20% of the total bill.
These deductibles and co-pays are going to cause far more bankruptcies than catastrophic events because being nailed by these exorbitant co-pays and deductibles is going to be a far more common experience.
Sadly, that /sarc tag isn't necessary...

I reply that we’re in an offset plan and locked into the pre-ACA rates. Next year will be different.
They just laugh it off.

No, they were complicit. Higher prices and a bigger covered pool means more cash flow. More cash flow means more money to play with on the stock markets. That means more leverage and more profit.

The insurance industry was one of the major promoters of Obamacare.
Obamacare promised to deliver customers to the insurance industry by force of law.
Insurance companies would not need to advertise, market, or sell insurance. The government would force people to buy their product.
The insurance industry is one of the villians in this nightmare.

The WaPost's writer couldn't bring himself to call Obama's "flawed promise" what everyone over the age of 6 knows it actually was, a flat-out monstrous lie.
