SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico became the latest state to legalize gay marriage Thursday as its highest court declared it is unconstitutional to deny marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples.
Justice Edward L. Chavez said in a ruling that none of New Mexico's marriage statutes specifically prohibits same-gender marriages, but the state's laws as a whole have prevented gay and lesbian couples from marrying. The justices said same-sex couples are a discrete group that has been subjected to a history of discrimination and violence....

Yet another unconstitutional ruling from an unconstitutional “judge”. “Judges” aren’t supposed to legislate laws. American taxpayers pay other people a lot of money to do that.
And if I choose not to recognize such a marriage I become the one discriminated against. Gay marriage is unconstitutional and forces everyone to accept something that by right we shouldn’t have to.
NM like so many states nearly always picks the worst possible nominees and elected officials. Joe Skeen was pretty good; so was Edwin L. Mechem, but few if any others.

Bogus headline. It’s not that gay marriage had been illegal; it’s that it didn’t even exist as a category as far as government was concerned. The headline really should be “NM redefines marriage to include gays”.
Since when courts rule? They are supposed to provide a translation of the law in every day case. Legislating from the bench ought to stop. The courts do not create words nor modify them, they are to translate them.

This most certainly was an orchestrated, and well played, attack from the depraved Marxists of the NM Democrat Party. The county clerk of Doña Anna county having fired the first shot with a few other counties following in kind. The twisted ‘logic’ being that since there is no law explicitly banning sodomite ‘marriage’ then such must be fine and fabulous. The activist judges jump at the opportunity to legislate from the bench, rather than deferring to the upcoming session of the state legislature. Such ‘logic’ also entails that since there is no law explicitly banning polygamy (or gerbils) then ‘marriage’ licenses must be approved for them as well.
It is very disturbing that there is no outrage coming from republican governor Martinez. Such should not surprise me though since she has proven herself a RINO on 2A laws and campaigned for Christy recently.

It is very disturbing that there is no outrage coming from republican governor Martinez. Such should not surprise me though since she has proven herself a RINO on 2A laws and campaigned for Christy recently.
Except for Christy, I don't know where you get that. Here is a comment and her statement on the decision:

Courts don’t “legalize” anything.
They enjoin enforcement of laws passed by the people. There IS a difference.
The NM legislature is and has been controlled by the Democrats for many decades. Occasionally we get a Republican governor (like Susana Martinez who disagrees with the decision) or a Libertarian (like Gary Johnson who agrees with it).
