A group of Republican lawmakers has renewed an effort to undo pension cuts to military retirees included in the recently passed budget agreement and offset the costs by reining in an IRS credit that illegal immigrants have claimed.
A new proposal by Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., would remove the adjustments to military retirement benefits and offset the costs by closing a tax loophole that has allowed illegal immigrants to claim fraudulent cash payments through the Refundable Child Tax Credit.

“According to a 2011 Treasury Inspector General report, the Internal Revenue Service mailed $4.2 billion in child-credit checks to undocumented immigrants in 2010. “
Bring back jobs to America.
Just saying.
I know it’s a (bit) off-topic, but it’s not really.
America we need to make stuff right here. That is the big problem. Our economy cannot support us, if it’s running on imported goods made elsewhere.
Make stuff right here in the USA.
The way I see it is Paul Ryan acknowledged he knew about this days before it was voted on. He first denied it than spun it and finally after Patty Murray outed him, he admitted to the days of knowing about it.
The bottom line is everyone connected to it, including the leadership (that description is totally misleading) of the REPUBLICAN House of Representatives showed themselves.
There is no magic fairy dust, or a technical fix as they call it, next year because as we all are now aware, it was attempted in the Senate and Prince Harry would not allow it to be made an amendment. Which brings this most important reality, just what in the hell is Paul Ryan and the rest of the “leadership” going to pull out of the anuses to get Harry to allow it after the fact when the best chance was before?
Explain that one to us Mr. Ryan!
That’s easy. To the rats the criminal illegal aliens. To us our military veterans
Stop speculating. It was the rats in the senate who put it in
This will hang around Paul Ryan’s neck for the rest of his career. He certainly has shown a lack of foresight on this and other issues.
“It was the rats in the senate who put it in”
Exactly — unfortunately many conservatives are more interested in forming circular firing squads, instead of focusing on defeating the Democrats, who are the real threat to the nation.
I am not speculating. Ryan admitted it by having to spin it by calling it a “mistake”. Did not a certain President finally admit his Oval Office “mistake” after lying about it for how many months?
But answer the question, what pixy dust is he going to sprinkle on Harry to get them to pass a “technical fix”?

Oh those wascally Democrats did it! Oh, the humanity! I’ll do it again in case you missed it the first time.

Do yourself a BIG favor and read the book “This Town” and then try telling anyone it was only the fault of those Democrats.
If there would be another gov shutdown, the Republicans would get the blame.
This way the Republicans have a better chance in the elections in 2014.
You need to think strategically.
If the Republicans return to power, they can fix these things, but if we end up in permanent minority, the country is going down the drain.
And you honestly think the Republican establishment gives a dead rat’s tail? Honestly? Do read the book, I dare ya!
If the Republicans return to power? You just don’t get it, they are in power along with the rest of the elites in DC. That is not to say there are maybe two handfulls who are not in it for themselves but out of 535, two handfulls are squat.
Republicans are not the answer, republicanism is.
It’s Not A Cut In Pensions, It’s a One Percent Decrease In The Annual COLA beginning in 2015.
Too damned late. The votes have been counted and the Republicans who voted for that bill will pay a price for their foolishness.
“Its Not A Cut In Pensions, Its a One Percent Decrease In The Annual COLA beginning in 2015.”
Now that you put it that way, a thought occurred to me that this is an attempt to rile up conservatives against Republicans as part of the Dems “divide and conquer” strategy.
That would have been a Senate Amendment, and would have required another vote in the House. There was no second vote that I am aware of in the House, so it must have been in the bill that was sent to the Senate. IOW, it happened in the House.
An unnecessary tactic when we have Pubbies like John McQueeg and Boner badmouthing Tea Partiers daily.
Ryan can kiss my ass.
Traitors like this Judas have their own ring of hell.
