Erekat: New Israeli settlement building would 'destroy peace process'

Israeli official says government is planning to build 1,400 housing units over Green Line; chief Palestinian negotiator warns PA would apply for membership in 63 int'l organizations, including the ICC, if Israel makes move.

The Palestinian Authority said it would plan to appeal the the internationl community, including the International Criminal Court if Israel announces plans for new settlement construction next week follow the third release of Palestinian prisoner as part of an agreement for resuming negotiations.

The Palestinians have said any further expansion of Israeli settlements on land they seek for a state could derail US-brokered peace talks that resumed in July after a three-year break and are set to last until April.

Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said the move would "destroy the peace process" and could be met with retaliation.

"We in the Palestinian leadership would immediately present our application for membership in 63 international organizations, among them the International Criminal Court," the al-Quds newspaper quoted Erekat as saying on Friday.

What “peace process”?

In sixty-five years, the arabs have yet to agree to permit a Jewish state to exist.

Here’s the thing about this “building” - and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke directly to this, very specifically, on several occasions.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the building is ONLY going on in areas where ALL PARTIES agree that Israel will have inside the country in the Final Status talks. Israel is building ONLY in areas that they will retain at the very end - and everyone agrees about these areas.

SO ... the Palestinian Authority is simply trying to throw up a roadblock to stall the talks, because they really don’t want a Palestinian State. I know it sounds weird, but they actually DO NOT WANT a Palestinian State, in which they have agreed to recognize Israel’s right to exist and in which they will have given up - permanently - all future claims (which is what they would have to do in order to get their Palestinian state).

That is one of the reasons they don’t want an Arab state. The other reason is that once Israel removes its forces from Judea and Samaria the presnt leadership is gone - gone as in blown to pieces or shot. The same thing will happen as it did in Gaza and Erekat, Abbas et co are fully aware that this is what will happen.

The only people who do not understand this are the golden minds of the foreign offices in the western countries. Remember that Israel warned the West what would happen if they allowed Hamas to take part in the PA elections 2006. To no avail of course. And so to the consternation of those Rolls Royce minds Hamas won and threw a big spanner in the so called peace process.

Peace process? From the religion of peace? That kind of peace? That’s what Israel is already enduring every day.

Keep building. They don’t want real peace with Israel, otherwise, they’d have it. It’s that simple.

The biggest mistake the Israeli’s ever made was to give back an inch of territory won in the 1967 6-day war.

Nah the biggest mistake is thinking that war is over.

No problem, Israel needs to inform those terrorists that if they apply for any more memberships in anything, they’ll never have “peace talks” or terrorist catch-and-release agreements ever again.

Thanks honestabe010.
