Is This China's New Stealth Bomber?
Foreign Policy ^ | December 30, 2013 | Dan Lamothe

Photographs circulating online this week raise the prospect that the twin-engine Hongzha-6K may not be the only plane the Chinese are preparing to field. Grainy images show a B-2-like bomber taxiing down a runway on what it is purportedly Chinese soil. They were posted on the Chinese website Tiexue with speculation that it's yet another new advanced stealth bomber for the Beijing's rapidly-advancing military.

The post already has received interest abroad. Tim Robinson, the editor in chief of "Aerospace," the top publication for the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, posted the link on Twitter on Monday, questioning whether the photos had been doctored: Via SecretProjects forum - grainy pic of Chinese 'B-2' stealth bomber. Photoshop or another LO surprise from China?

It wouldn't be the first time that valuable military intelligence about China emerged online first. Chinese civilians blogging obsessively about the their country's military hardware has revealed secrets before, raising some to question whether the Chinese government actually tacitly endorses the practice by not immediately wiping them off the Internet.

I dunno. Is it? Or it could be a B-17. Or an L10-11. Or a pinata.

'"This stealth bomber is my New Year's president, I hope all of you military fans like it," wrote the individual who posted the photos.'

I’m concerned about buying vehicles with limited capability like the F-35. It’s not as fast or maneuverable as the F-16 and it has a shorter range and is all-around less capable. It’s only saving grace may be short-lived; stealth. The F-117 was retired because technology caught up with it. (Due to Carter announcing it 10 years before it was deployed. That gave the Russians and Chinese a head start.) As Spock said, “Military secrets are the most fleeting.”

Overcoming stealth is dependent on computing power, which is probably doubling every year. You network your radars (much like the weatherman on TV who races you across the state in 3-D). You see, the vehicles do reflect. But they don’t reflect straight at the sending radar. But other antennas networked into the system can see pulses put out from other radars. Together they draw a picture of where your slow, less capable vehicle is and where it’s heading.

I suspect that “stealth” is not the end all and be-all we think it is. Just having a capable fast and maneuverable plane with good range and payload may end up being much more important.

I think someone is playing a hoax. This looks like a production still from an old Honda commercial I saw back in 1988. They constructed a steel replica of what they thought the B-2 would look like. Someone probably made it "grainy" via photoshop to start the rumors. You can see the original Honda commercial here:

No doubt in my mind they stole everything they needed from Defense Contractors.

What fools the Gubment is. They rigged all these back doors into routers and such. About all we can do is re-rip off our own secrets.
