O.J. Simpson begs Obama: Free me; I’m dying from brain cancer
The Washington Times ^ | January 3, 2014 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Former NFL great turned criminal, O.J. Simpson, has issued a plea for clemency to President Obama, claiming he may have brain cancer and should be allowed to leave his Nevada jail cell and go free.

The 66-year-old is currently serving a 33-year sentence for kidnapping and robbery.

But he’s being tested for a tumor on his brain to determine whether he has cancer — and he’s convinced that he’s due to die any day now, The Mirror News reported.

Simpson is doing time in a Nevada state prison, convicted on state charges. Obama can’t pardon him or commute his sentence. Only the governor of Nevada can do that.

Just thought I'd remind everybody of the smirk on OJ's face the moment he learned he was going to get away with murder after all.

He beat the rap and gained his freedom back but he still ended up throwing it all away.

OJ, Either you have brain cancer or you don’t. Doesn’t this writer of this article know for sure?

Power of pardon granted to the president by the Constitution is plenary. He can pardon anyone for any crime in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Article II says he can pardon for crimes committed against the United State. That would mean federal crimes, not state, wouldn't it?

That trial was a travesty of justice.

Bull-shiite.

2. Federal convictions only

Under the Constitution, only federal criminal convictions, such as those adjudicated in the United States District Courts, may be pardoned by the President. In addition, the President's pardon power extends to convictions adjudicated in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and military court-martial proceedings. However, the President cannot pardon a state criminal offense. Accordingly, if you are seeking clemency for a state criminal conviction, you should not complete and submit this petition. Instead, you should contact the Governor or other appropriate authorities of the state where you reside or where the conviction occurred (such as the state board of pardons and paroles) to determine whether any relief is available to you under state law. If you have a federal conviction, information about the conviction may be obtained from the clerk of the federal court where you were convicted.

The pardon power of the President extends only to offenses cognizable under federal law.

Frank: I’m telling ya, the answer’s up there in Ludwig’s office. Call it what you will. A hunch, woman’s intuition. That guy Ludwig knows a lot more than he’s telling us.

Ed: A hunch won’t stand up in court, Frank. Where are your hard facts?

Frank: Look. He’s the only one outside of ourselves who knew that Nordberg was still alive. Next thing we know, some thug tries to knock Nordberg off in the hospital.

Good afternoon.

True, but only under "federal" jurisdiction.

Then again, being this is now a banana republic, anything is possible.

Zero can lean on the Nevada governor.

If you don't let him out quickly, it'll be too late for him to lead the search to find the real killers!

Obama has the NSA and the IRS working for him, so I think he can find ways to convince the governor to do the right thing.

Here’s hoping it’s true and that his cancer is particularly aggressive so he can join Robert Kardashian and Johnnie Cochran in the fires of Hell.
