Ed, do they take your testicles away when they deliver the Keurig, cause you’re sounding a lot like a chick.

I don't know about that taking away of the testicles stuff but all I can tell you is that I simply LOVE my Keurig! I have SO much more counter space and...and...when it's making my peppermint mocha coffee, why it just purrs like a DREAM. I don't know what to DO with myself...I think I'm going to just DIE if they ever take my Keurig away...

Yep,, no finer coffee than that from a coffee press. We have been using a Bodum for 10 years. We did wear one out before that. Folgers Columbian in that press tastes as good as any.

Use scoring water and follow instructions on cleaning with vinegar or purchased decalcifier. Water in your area makes a difference. Read the user booklet.

Have the Mr. Coffee version, and I love it. I got a spare cone thingy for making a cup with your own brew. Any new machine should come with one, but I already had one.

You will never go back. They are wonderful. I bought one for my office.

Rubbish. All you need is a french press and a bag of ground Sumatra dark coffee (Starbuck’s or Peets) from the supermarket. Perfect, rich but not bitter coffee every time.

I do about this same. Why would anyone want to pay more for coffee that is doled out in portion controlled sizes? I don't even use a press half the time. Small pot of 8-10oz boiling water. Put 1-2 tbsp coffee in. Turn down to simmer for a few minutes. Pour into cup through fine strainer and drink black no sugar. This will work for 1-8 people on up

I doubt I’ll ever get one. I fresh grind my beans each morning. I enjoy flavored coffees, and get my supply from a coffee company in New Orleans.

Kids gave hubby one last Christmas. He is thrifty to say the least. I know there was struggle with the cost per cup but we told him he is worth it. And he loves it! (so do I). Now we visit non Kuerig family and he told me I sure missed my Kuerig coffee. Anywhere else he drinks coffee he says it tastes like muddy water. Of course, we use RO water and that makes it better already. I buy Kcups at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon or Sams or whereever I can get a good price. So far it works great after a year of regular use.

This is why I’m still resisting, and becoming slightly irritated with friends and relatives who gasp, “You don’t have a Keurig yet?” We have a forty dollar Mr. Coffee machine which makes outstanding coffee. Between us, we drink almost a pot in the morning. Why would I go spend two hundred dollars and have to keep making a fresh cup every time I want one?

In the interest of open-mindedness, I am bookmarking the thread, though. ;)

I’ve tasted both the keurig and nespresso... the nespresso capsules taste like you are in Italy. The body and creme of the coffee means you have no need for actual cream.

I went with the nespresso that also has a built in milk frother, and although you have to plan to order before you run out... I also bought some refillable disposable capsules from Amazon... when in dire need!

My wife bought a Keurig. She loves it! While I use it only during the week when I drink one cup at home before leaving for work, I use our old pot to make coffee on the weekend. I don’t like having to wait for each cup on my days off work.

In principle, a package sealed until point of use will offer more freshness than one which remains open for days or weeks. This sounds like a status bragging fight.

Emerill’s Big Easy Bold is good for dark full flavor and Barrista’s Italian Dark Roast is good. I make it on the largest cup size and it works for me.

Your Keurig will self-destruct in 13 to 15 months. No, seriously. Count on it.

Is that you Uncle Si?;-)

Seriously, Jack, if you clean them a little bit (the cup container in the dishwasher and flush them with vinegar) they will last a little longer.

Jack!

"No waste - make a cup, drink a cup."

I only make two cups for myself everyday with my drip coffeemaker, so it never goes to waste.

The simple Bodum coffee press makes good coffee out of floor sweepings.

Buy the better ones and they last fine. Quick, easy and good.

Not as good as a good coffee maker but pretty darn good.

The cups cost $.60 each for the not-good stuff and $1 each for top quality. It doesn’t match the flavor of freshly brewed coffee. I used the Melita system and really miss it.
