New York (CNN) -- Liz Cheney, whose upstart bid to unseat Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi sparked a round of warfare in the Republican Party and even within her own family, is dropping out of the Senate primary, sources told CNN late Sunday.

Cheney, the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, began telling associates of her decision over the weekend and could make an official announcement about the race as early as Monday.

The bad news is that the media will say that this is proof that an ultra-conservative, bona fide leader of the tea party movement was defeated before the race began in ultra-conservative Wyoming proving the tea party movement is dead and the likes of Cruz no longer hold sway over the GOP which can now get things done with Demoncrats — such as immigration reform.

The fact that Cheney is a RINO will never enter the discussion. The news means what the media tells people it means.

Good.

Time to send all Cheneys into obscurity.

“Anyone think it was a ruse to keep another tea party type out?”

No, because I’m not sure she’s capable of or interested in working with anyone else.

This was a naked power grab from the spoiled child of a powerful family with serious entitlement issues. She thought that her last name alone meant she was owed a taxpayer-funded salary.

I won't miss her in this race.

(donning Nomex underwear)

In my opinion, anyone who seriously categorizes Enzi as a RINO needing TP opposition has a reserved seat on the tin-foil trolley.

Bingo and exactly!

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. No ruse, just:

“Gimmee, I’m Dick’s daughter!”

Sometimes the left is just too predictable:

Enzi is a soft spoken regular guy. He is also the only cpa in the US Senate.

He is conservative but does not speak out as much as he should.

Even reading the comments on this thread, I continue to be amazed at how many conservatives think that carpetbagging, gay-marriage-supporting Liz is an appropriate candidate against a decent incumbent.

“Why not run in Virginia?”

It is the tea part way to only run in conservative states/districts because all they have to do is win the primary.

In swing states, or liberal districts, tea party has no chance in the general election so why bother.

Thank goodness.

Rush interviewed when she first announced her candidacy and she didn't give one straight answer. She sounded like a typical political bullsh*tter. She brought absolutely nothing new to the table.

Well, the Liz Cheney fans had a great game plan for "saving our Republic":

Step #1: Replace "sleepwalking through history/not a fighter/boring career politician" Mike Enzi with a LESS CONSERVATIVE Republican carpetbagger that knows nothing about the Wyoming citizens she wants to "fight" for.

Step #2: ?

Step #3: Restoration of the founding fathers vision for America!!!

RE :”Well, the Liz Cheney fans had a great game plan for “saving our Republic”:

The most I could tell about her is from her appearances on the FN Sunday panel with Chris Wallace which was regularly last year.

From what I could tell she was similar to her Dad, McCain and Grahamnesty in interests.

The only issue she was interested in was war and foreign policy. She never articulated detailed opinions on other issues, except maybe the customary ‘I disagree with Obama’ line.

Whatever new she claimed in the campaign had to be taken with a grain.

Ya gotta remember that this is FR. Though the general standard of comments here is high, active FR posters represent the rightmost 1% of the rightmost 1% of the rightmost 1% of America, and no matter how solidly conservative an incumbent is, there will always be a few dozen Freepers ready to call him a RINO.

That is certainly a possibility.

Some would have us cheer a liberal Republican “shaking things up”... meaning she would probably have joined McConnell’s war on conservatives.

TEA party has as much chance to win as any Republican in swing states

I’m suspicious. The establishment Repubs are all about keeping current Repubs in office. One has to wonder what Cheney was promised. What is the price to drop out of this race? We haven’t heard the end of this yet.

IMHO, its hard to say what Liz had in mind but in the end, she was smart enough to know she couldn’t win and bowed out early.
Something the following couldn’t figure out:

Mike Huckabee
Rick Santorum
Pat Robertson
John McCain
Ross Perot
Pat Buchanan
