White House unemployment benefits push kicks into high gear (Pay for it Democrats!)

President Barack Obama returns from his Hawaii holiday toting a familiar message — blame the Republicans — as the White House and its allies launch a fresh weeklong effort to spotlight Congress’s failure to renew long-term unemployment benefits.

The push kicks into high gear Tuesday, as the president hosts a group of unemployed Americans at the White House.

That event — which comes as Democrats ramp up what they hope is a midterm-friendly focus on income inequality — will be followed by daily White House efforts to keep the story in the news, a White House official said. Obama’s political arm, Organizing for Action, has also planned events in 30 cities Tuesday to pressure Republicans, according to people familiar with the plans.

Labor and progressive groups are organizing phone calls to the Capitol and holding a Wednesday rally there featuring unemployed workers and supportive Democratic members of Congress. And on Thursday, Americans United for Change will begin airing TV ads to make the case that the GOP alone is responsible for the cancelled unemployment benefits.

This is Dems ‘secret’ weapon to put the GOP back on the defensive, Dems on offensive. They been talking about it on MSNBC for > two weeks now.

But Republicans could turn it back on Dems by pointing out that it is Dems bragging about how good the Obama economy is.

Dems are claiming the economy is good while demanding these endless benefits because of bad economy.

The problem with opposing this is, our side is not on the side of American jobs.

Bring back American jobs.

We have been exporting our own jobs now for more than an entire generation. Start bringing them back.

Then we wouldn’t be worried about this.

I have never drawn unemployment benefits but seems to me the republicans enjoy being portrayed as the “bad guys” on a lot of issues. With all the waste in government, why stick their necks out on something that matters to real people? Dang, just make Odumbo cut out his vacations and that could pay for unemployment.

Because the “waste” in other areas is actually where all politicians derive their true wealth and power.

There wouldn’t be such inequality if Obumbles hadn’t spent this economy into the ground the past five years. He and his coven of Leftist professors have gown a real-life unemployment rate of over 11%, if the labor force was counted as we did when he came into office. Dumping millions off the rolls didn’t mean that the long-term unemployed disappeared, of course, so now BO wants a permanent unemployed class paid for by the shrinking paychecks of the employed.

If they don’t have unemployment, how are they going to pay for Obamacare?

Pray America is Waking

I’m all for extending unemployment benefits to Obama and the rest of the democrat leadership indefinitely if they would agree to step down.

They don’t have to pay for it, employers do. Ask any employer of 50 or more on Missouri about the FUTA credit.

bring back American jobs

The problem is that too many pols actually work for RINO corporations that want their cheap foreign goods to sell at obscene profits. If they were on our side, the answer would be to impose tariffs. The money collected could pay for unemployment and bringing home those jobs now going to third world cesspools would give people work opportunities. It's a win all around.

When I can find made-in-the-USA goods, they're no more expensive than comparable overseas goods. It's not us that's saving the money, it's the rich getting richer.

If the obama economy is so great, why are people unemployed for over 99 weeks six years into his residency?

I see they’re proposing extending the benefits to 102 weeks.

Why not make it 104 and have an even 2 yrs?

I don’t know about others, but I sure wouldn’t buy a union made product if I could help it.
The quality isn’t there, plus you’re supporting communism and paying for the elimination of your liberty.

Obama is lowering taxes on corporate taxes to 28 percent. I wonder if this is his way of paying for the minimum wage increase.

Obama tells us the recession ended long ago, the economy is running on all cylinders and jobs are being created everywhere.

Why do we need to extend unemployment when the economy is so rosy?

That is why I said only if they find equal cuts in their failed and miserable welfare scams. Otherwise... no extension for something that we have no money to fund.

Meet with people who "lost" their unemployment "benefits."

Ignore the people who lost or can't afford their health insurance because of Obamadoesn'tcare.

There is no “our side”... just “their side” and the republican party will gladly sign an extension and I predict an increase in the amount paid to keep people unemployed.
