State legislators ought to wake up and require a person applying for a teaching credential to first have a concealed carry permit and to maintain that permit to maintain the teaching credential.
I agree, and this guy makes sense, that’s bad in this day, he’s going to be out of work soon.

No doubt the thought that a few teachers are armed, will dissuade some of these lunatics. However it should not be overlooked that aggressive policing would have been beneficial as well. Police in small towns very often know who these characters are and where they live. If the cops just patrol by their homes or knock on their door just to say hello, it keeps them off balance. Not advocating unlawful search or seizures, but our country has placed so much emphasis on the rights of mentally ill people that simple policing procedures that historically have stopped crimes are rarely employed today. Would love to know what the police chief knew about Adam Lanza before he slaughtered twenty six innocents and what he had been doing. The fact is that if he said he knew full well that this disturbed man was collecting an arsenal, but he did nothing because no laws were broken, he gets to keep his job but has to live with his lack of action.

The form asks if you are an unlawful user of marijuana. If one smoked pot in the past but does not currently consume it, one can fill the form out properly without lying. I would be interested to see what case law is out there defining what constitutes a “user.” Perhaps the gun buyer stopped smoking that week, and then decided to pick it back up a week later. I wouldn’t want to be the test case but it appears the feds left it ambiguous.
