USDA: On second thought, some of those school-lunch restrictions weren’t such a good idea

After the federal government’s school-lunch standards were overhauled in 2012 in what I’m sure was a very well-intentioned effort to institute healthier habits in America’s children and help stave off of the country’s growing childhood obesity problem, it didn’t take long for the calorie-intake and portion restrictions in the new code to crash and burn spectacularly. Healthy eating habits being the highly individualized needs and preferences that they are, kids and parents quickly began complaining that students were not able to get enough to eat at lunchtime, and in some districts, school-lunch participation began to drop as more and more students started bringing their own lunches to school. The USDA soon implemented a temporary stay on the rules, and they just made the changes permanent — seeing as how the restrictions were never very well thought out in the first place. NPR explains:

"school-lunch participation began to drop as more and more students started bringing their own lunches to school."

The whole effing fraudulent school lunch program needs to be cancelled.

Time to really question why does the USDA tell us what to eat, and what commercial enterprise gains by their telling us to eat their stupid way.

Wheat and baby cow’s food?

Red meat as a staple?

Once again, the mandatory “solution” is rushed into effect without any actual forethought or tabletop contingency planning, only to discover that not only was it unnecessary, it actually made things worse. Libs are the Wile-E Coyote of politics.

I would have all teachers and other government workers live by their food rules. I would have free, privately employeed citizens given the right to turn the individual state worker food level ALL the way to ZERO. Have the drivers license employees slow roll you, no more food. Have the IRS (who does not produce squat) audit or fine your private business for trumped up reasons...no more food for them. If BHO-stinks limits your free market health insurance no food for him or his fat wookie. And if insurance is directed by the state, the people should all have a vote for 0bama’s and the rest of the statist workers health care that shall be administered all at the same time. Let Zero and statists get some tyrany splashed back on htheir head!!!

This isn’t about the ‘reduced/free’ lunch program. It’s about the content/portion size of what ANY school can offer its students.

A while back the wife and I decided to eat “healthy”, or, “healthy-ER”, and bought some of that bird seed and sticks cereal. I broke a tooth and ended up losing it. I threatened to sue and got the crown paid for and a few grand for pain and suffering. And believe me, there was pain and suffering. From now on if I want to eat cereal it’ll be frosted flakes.
