Canada's former Defense Minister says that aliens exist walk among us

I have always been agnostic on the subject of UFOs and alien intelligent beings visiting earth. For one thing, there is no definitive proof one way or another. For another, it is far more amusing that way, especially since there are so many entertaining claims out there asserting all sorts of things.  Consider claims of sexual violation, or claims of captured spacecraft in Area 51 or elsewhere, or of  alien technology transfers being behind important inventions (which would seem to put the aliens into an alliance with the gold ol' USA, because we have dominated the production of world-changing technologies in the last century).

Now along comes Canada's former Defense Minister (above the border they write it Defence Minister), making a claim via Russia's propaganda organ RT:

Over the weekend, Paul Hellyer, former Canadian defense minister, went on television and declared that not only do aliens exist but that they walk amongst us and are responsible for some of our modern technology. Among these tech gifts are the microchip, LED light and Kevlar vest.

Hellyer, who served as Canada's Minister of National Defence in the 1960s, went on Russia Today's program SophieCo to speak more about extraterrestrials. (snip)

"We spend too much time fighting each other, we spend too much money on military expenditures, and not enough on feeding the poor and looking after the homeless and the sick, and that we are polluting our waters and our air and that we're playing around with these exotic weapons, thermonuclear weapons and atomic weapons, which have such devastating effects both on Earth and other areas of Cosmos." (snip)

"[I've] been getting from various sources [that] there are about 80 different species and some of them look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn't know

He’s right, can’t swing a dead cat in Texas without hitting an alien.

Then they made a movie about it.

She might be one of the Reptilians.

Kinda looks like she's getting close to when they shed their old skin.

Everyone knows that! Just take a look in the Boston area where Auntie Zeituni and Uncle Oyango live among us. Just read the Boston Herald, the Lowell Sun, and the Metrowest Daily News to see how many aliens are living in Milford, Lawrence, Lowell, and other Massachusetts cities.

If we deported all those aliens Massachusetts would have about four Congressional districts.

C. Bose was an alien who invented the Bose wave technology.

Even that guy on The Big Bang theory, Raj, openly plays an alien.

It seems the aliens from India, China, Japan, and Singapore seem to be responsible for about half the articles in technology journals.

Heck, we even have an alien living on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.

Of course, to Mr. Hellyer all Americans are aliens.

Assuming any of this report is even true, it's sad to see such ignorance. The history of the invention of the microchip is well documented, and proceeds in a logical and incremental fashion of multiple small steps with contributions of a large number of people along the way, and which stems from Shockley's first transistor built from aluminum foil, paper clips and a doped gallium crystal, an invention that took months to get to work. Does this look like the product of "advanced alien" technology:
