The dirty little secret is that Velveeta shines in cooking. It makes the best homemade mac ‘n cheese, when cooked down with butter and milk.

Prices on dairy products have shot up in recent weeks.

The last time they bounced up significantly was when Congress was delaying the Farm Bill. As soon as it passed, the prices dropped.

I suspect the current high prices are due to the same: Congress not passing the Farm Bill — yet.

The only time I buy Velveeta is when it’s a sale combo with another item I was going to buy making it’s cost less than the off brand cheese. FYI, it freezes well.

What a blast from the past.

I don’t think I’ve eaten Velveeta in 50 years.

Okaaaayyy....I can see no earthly reason for shooting a block of Velveeta with a gun of ANY type, let alone a .357 Magnum. Tell me....was alcohol involved?

It’s actually “cheese product”. In the sense that potted meat is “meat product”. Note to self: never eat anything with “product” on the label.

Yup. It’s some kind of polymer whipped-up with “oil” and colored with orange dye then salted to obtain your daily 2.3 grams of salt out of 2 ounces of “cheese”

After I escaped childhood, I never ate another bite of Velveeta. That must have been at least 60 years ago.

I still remember how awful it was.
