Don't State and Federal tax regulators get their cut before lottery distributions???

Curiously enough the general application of tax laws both in Canada run the same. If an individual gets monies they have to declare it on their tax returns. Now monies taken from such a person as this unfortunate man, are indeed taxable as income. I will say I stand corrected if this is not so.

I have heard a few horror stories of the IRS in collecting taxes on this website. If they honed into someone getting a 19,000 dollar watch etc. they could demand a statement about the tax returns of that person. You had 19,000 dollars and have you declared it as income?

Oh I forgot, the persons are not exactly tea party calibre (laughs).

Exactly.

This is why we should not be handing over money to those who have shown a history of poor decision-making skills.

In a socialist “utopia” where all the money is redistributed, people like this would soon be begging for more after getting their “share” of the wealth. They would squander it, then cry foul and complain that they need/deserve more.

MARRIAGE

Well done.

That’s a good reason for the state to decide to attach a lien on the winnings to pay for his care.

But we were talking about the woman who wanted the state to give control to the conservator so they could spend the money for the man, in a way that would NOT cut off his government benefits.

I have to respond. Thanks big time for the laughs. You pretty much nailed it, though there ARE exceptions to every rule.

A great post IMO!

Not so funny. I suspect this behavior is common.

The gubmint handout makes mesick.

I'd like to withhold taxes based on how the gov't wastes so much of our money. I don't know how they could prove me wrong.

Interesting thoughts about welfare/taxation. Too bad there’s not much innovation going on in the field of gutting government largesse.
