I'm pissed that my tax dollars are being spent on this socialist scheme. But I'm really pissed that my tax dollars have been wasted on this socialist scheme.

Accenture used to be Andersen Consulting. When they split off from Andersen they fought tooth and nail to keep the Andersen name for "branding" purposes.

They lost that battle, fortunately for them, because soon after Andersen got caught up in the Enron scandal.

I don't know that Accenture is that very good a company. I know lots of people hire them, but then lots of people hire McKinsey and every company that I worked for that hired McKinsey spent a lot of money for essentially nothing.

I would feel a lot better if the replacement was a software/web development company rather than a generic "consulting" firm.

Agreed! Probably better, too. But Accenture has got to be better than CGI.

Accenture is mostly in the biz of generating more contracts for Accenture. Once in the door, it’s endless badgering for additional money. Got a defect? It’s gonna cost more to fix it. Accenture IS good at managing projects, although they tend to sugar coat their own shortcomings. PM is sorely needed because the clown “leaders,” Obama and Sebelius, haven’t the skills or talent to manage tying their own shoes. Accenture tends to hire smart youngsters who work endless hours for relative slave wages for the privilege of putting “Accenture” on their resumes. It’s kind of a Ponzi scheme, the contract-chasing managers of the drones make good money.

Well there is another few hundred million down the drain. I wonder how many teachers that money would hire?

That same reply could have been written substituting Oracle for Accenture.

And as we know Oracle utterly failed with the Oregon website/database. Still not a single person enrolled through the database (all enrollments have been paper apps) and no sign there ever will be.

True. And it’s ALWAYS gonna cost more when you bring someone in to fix something that’s built (partly, anyway) but broken, that probably has zero documentation. If they manage it from the start and botch it, that’s one thing. But to come in on the heels of a couple of other firms that couldn’t get the job done, they’ll have a blank check. Wheeeee!

The important thing is that Mooch’s affirmative action classmate scored millions of tax payer dollars for a laughably incompetent job.

but then lots of people hire McKinsey and every company that I worked for that hired McKinsey spent a lot of money for essentially nothing.

A family member who is in a position to know told me that "Consulting firms are basically CYA, for when a company needs to make tough decisions, but their executives don't have the cojones to take the heat for them. This gives them the chance to slough it off, point their fingers and say "not my fault, the consultants said we had to do it".

Oracle used to be a decent company. They had a really good relational database. Then they bought into all of that stupid OO database crapola. Then they purchased Sun with all that Java crapola.

Larry is spending way too much time yachting and not enough time managing his company.

When's the last time you heard anyone talking about "Oracle Financials"? It used to be the Cadillac of accounting software. Now it has even been surpassed by SAP, the Yugo of accounting software.

My sometimes photographic memory occasionally runs out of film but I could swear I saw their name in connection with a group called Availity which processes lots of insurance claims for all the biggies and offers lots of other services to medical providers.
