FURTHER, it was a DUMB STUNT!!!

My thoughts exactly! I could be wrong, but as I understand it, the bridge is under state jurisdiction (that's how the Port Authority could block the lanes), so the state would be blamed anyway, not the city. What were they thinking???

It may not have been Democrats who set him up.

Bridget Kelly, the senior Christie staff member who was fired last week, had a long career in politics that included previous stints with Rudy Giuliani and John McCain.

I think Christie's political future was over the day he won re-election to a second term as New Jersey governor in November 2013.

I say this because I don't think he's ever had any aspirations to run for office again, despite all this nonsense about how the guy is a front-runner for the GOP nomination in 2016.

Your last paragraph is right on target. It's worth noting, however, that the direct, effective, no-nonsense person you're describing there rarely has any interest in wasting his life in politics.

Personally I think that conservatives should be hammering this point home:

Will never forgive this guy for...(x, y, z, etc)...

And he also signed a bill prohibiting therapists in New Jersey from counseling children to help them recover from same-sex attraction, even if they want it, or even if those feelings are accompanied by a past incidence of same-sex seduction or rape.

Gay-to-straight conversion therapy ban OK'd by N.J. Assembly panel

With all due respect, he’s governor. Do you think he oversees every road closure in the state? He delegates such matters to his transportation secretary (staff member, whatever) and doesn’t give this type of thing a second thought.

If they can find a memo where he tells this person to cause a traffic tie-up in retribution, I think Christie’s fair game. If they can’t, this is a tempest in a tea-pot, just the sort of game the Democrats run on Republicans all the time.

The Democrats see Christie as a threat. Sure we can let them take him down. And then that leaves the coast clear for them to go after a more solid candidate, one we might approve of.

None of this goes down without repercussions.

Christie must not be our next presidential nominee, but this isn’t the way to go about that in a healthy manner.

Glenn Beck did a bit on his show yesterday comparing statements made by Christie to those made by Obama. Virtually no difference.

Christie MUST NOT be our next presidential nominee.

On that last statement, we were in agreement years ago I’m sure.

Beck may have been on to something, or it may have simply been a humorous comparison that was fairly accurate as far as it went.

I’ll say it again. If it is shown that Christie did have prior knowledge and participated in the shut-down in some manner, then he deserves to go. I have no problem with justice being done. I just don’t want another groundless Leftist witch hunt to work it’s magic on another person.

Frankly, I wish the media would show 0.0001% of the tenacity it displays when it comes to Republicans, when it comes to holding Obama responsible for his malfeasance and worse.

Oh wait, that’s about what they have done...

re: Do you think he oversees every road closure in the state? He delegates such matters to his transportation secretary

No, I do not think he oversees every road closure in the state. However, in this instance his own top level staff were involved in closing roads, not leaving it purely to his transportation secretary. So, Christy is not off the hook. Was he complicit in the closures? I don't know, but this does not look good for him one bit. From what I have read on Christy prior to this entire episode, he has a long history of vindictive responses when he doesn't get what he wants. So, ordering road closures out of spite doesn't seem out of character for him.

Allred can’t. The woman who’s ambulance was delayed, died. Christie is, was and always will be an a-hat.

"I am not a crook" - Richard M. Nixon

And in reference to the Presidency he was no more a crook than Kennedy, LBJ or any other politician and probably less so than any demonrat!

re: Do you think he oversees every road closure in the state? He delegates such matters to his transportation secretary

No, I do not think he oversees every road closure in the state.

Okay.  Fair enough...

However, in this instance his own top level staff were involved in closing roads, not leaving it purely to his transportation secretary.

Once again, that's a fair observation.  I think it raises the level of concern.  It isn't an indictable piece of information though.  It may or may not be as out of the ordinary as we think.  Even if it was, it's also entirely possible for a go-getter staff member to use poor judgement when doing something on behalf of their boss, that he may have nixed had he actually been asked to review the plan.

So, Christy is not off the hook.

I agree.

Was he complicit in the closures? I don't know, but this does not look good for him one bit.

I don't know either.  And in reaction to that factoid, I am neutral about what this means for Christie.  I'm not going to jump on the band-wagon to impeach him just yet.  If we do that by saying things like "Thanks Christie..." we're essentially fanning the flames of the Democrat bon-fire, before Christie is even shown to be deserving of the stake.

From what I have read on Christy prior to this entire episode, he has a long history of vindictive responses when he doesn't get what he wants.

Wouldn't you agree that this could probably be said about most people in and out of politics?  If you cross your employer at work, are you going to last long?  It's a fact of nature.  It may not be right, but I doubt Christie is any worse than the ten nearest Democrat Governors when it comes to vindictive nature.  Here some Democrat player is just hamming it up, reeling folks in.

Yesterday I heard on the radio some schlep state, "Yeah, and Christie runs his management team like it was a paramitary operation."  What the hell does that mean?  It was stated to insight folks to think negatively about Christie.  It was pure propaganda.  Another way of saying this is, "Christie runs a tight operation."  Wow, now there's something most of us would like to think our Governor does, as long as it is on the up and up.  So in actuality, this is a neutral statement, that was craftily formulated to insight people to think negatively about Christie.

So, ordering road closures out of spite doesn't seem out of character for him.

Base on what, normal facts of nature?  I could be wrong, but it seem to me you're pulling in too many variables to justify a negative opinion of Christie.

I am negative on him as it relates to his political leanings.  I think he's being rolled here.  In time, well see.

They weren’t. And if he were nominated, they would be running his campaign.

Isn’t odd how the media is on Bridgegate like flies on a turd but nothing on Barry’s college and law school records?

You are calling this nixonian? What a laugh.

Now what Obama did with the IRS...that’s Nixonian. Wish more grassroots conservative would be pushing coverage of that story instead of this one.

Not at all.

The Marxists have monopolized the media, the entertainment industry, the educational establishment and are currently working on Christianity.

I read them all the time.

there’s very little about the IRS scandal.

The MSM knows how to distract conservatives into bashing their own to get the focus off Obama. Works every time.
