COLUMBIA, S.C. Prosecutors have dropped disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest charges against South Carolina NAACP Lonnie Randolph the same day his trial was set to begin.
City of Columbia prosecutors said Monday that the owner of the dry cleaners where Randolph was arrested decided not to go forward with the case. Randolph's lawyer says the letter was sent to the city more than a month ago.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
Wonder what the police officers who had to wrestle the suspect to the floor thing about this? Guess they didn’t get hurt at all in the commotion, right?
They must have finally realized the guy is black.
Someone got a check; or an envelope with a bunch of cash.
Maybe the City of Columbia is trying to avoid trouble with the Dept. of Injustice (Eric the Red).
Being black makes one exempt from legal consequence.
The question is who was paying whom? That very short article says the suspect has a ‘diabetic episode’ and could not follow commands of the police. He ended up losing several teeth! Wow. I know one thing, the cleaners has likely told him to take his business elsewhere.
“Why file charges and then drop them?”
Threats?
Assuming he did not misplace a partial plate, he put up a pretty good struggle. Wonder if any of the police officers were injured?
I sat across from a group of police at a restaurant one morning as they were discussing a disorderly resident who required arresting several times. From the tone of the conversation, I surmised this individual was strong and wild, and that they did not enjoy this part of their job.
Maybe the owner didn't want these guys hanging around out front of his cleaners.
I’ve worked as a counselor or medicine assistant with many people who could be very violent. Some of these people got so accustomed to the police showing up to restrain and interrupt them, that police intervention became a crutch and an assumption. Some would put on quite a show. These people had to re-learn to take charge of their own actions, not expect adult babysitters to force them to stop. I had to ask the staff not to be so quick to dial 911 and just sit back waiting for the cops to do what we should at least try to do first. There are pluses and minuses to both approaches.
Do you think those guys would be bad for business?
Evidently you’ve never seen our country’s prison population.
Let me correct my statement: Being a black leader of some rank insulates one from legal consequence.
or they were just given a “message”. That’s how the thugs work here in Chicago.
upchuck: This thing stinks like a three day old fish.

Lonnie can afford a very high dollar, well connected Democrat lawyer.
