This Porsche building will house 2% of the world's billionaires

Porsche is really taking its game to the next level.

The 60-story Porsche Design Tower, now underway in Miami, will contain three elevators capable of taking residents and their cars to their multimillion-dollar condos dozens of stories up. The building has 284 parking spaces in its glass "sky garages," where the cars will be visible to owners from within their condos.

The amenity is so enticing that the building has managed to sign up 2 percent of the world's billionaires, according to the Atlantic Cities.

Not many units remain, a broker tells Yahoo, even though prices start at a heady $4 million and top out at a vertiginous $32.5 million for the "huge" penthouse.

Asked about the cars, the broker said: “Bentleys, Porsches, Ferraris, Rolls Royce -- so many cars I’m just amazed.” One resident is reportedly bringing with him a $25 million Ferrari.

There once was a name for this: conspicuous consumption.

Some people just want to flaunt their wealth. And I guess they’re entitled to. Still somewhat of a free country, I guess.

Nothing’s perfect, though bedrock would be preferable to sand. What kind of cataclysm would be needed to knock that hotel over?

These people won’t be living there 100% of the time. It’s just one of their crash pads.

Heh, heh.

Well maybe. Is it the tallest proposed tower the city has had?

One thing I could see this place becoming (if the condo terms allow) is a bunch of timeshares.

Well, the structural guy on that particular project had just come from doing forensic work on the Mexico City earthquake. If I had to be in a coastal building during a hurricane, it would be that one. The thing felt hugely over-engineered on structure.

I’ll have to Google that series; is it like “Chucky” with evil faces, large knives, blood and guts?

This series?

“It’s all about the experience of being able to see your car right there from your residence”

All one needs to do is grab some cement to make a parking space in front of the living room or bedroom window. =)

This series?

I think the series "Stingray" series had the sinking buildings. "Thunderbirds" may have had them as well. Gerry Anderson did some odd stuff.

What’s the difference between a Porsche and a Porcupine?

In a Porsche, the Pricks are on the inside.

Couldn’t resist.

I live two hours north of Miami.
What a hell hole.
Overtown area makes Harlem seem sane.
Near impossible unless you speak spanish.
Third world cess pool is an apt discription.
We here avoid it if at all possible.

I’ve lived in many an apartment without feeling “overcrowded by humanity.”

Government was invented 10,000 years ago so people could live close without killing each other, as much anyway. The higher the population density, the more big government, rules, restrictions, taxation, disarmament, and law enforcement is needed. A sudden and dramatic shift from freedom values to communist values reliably occurs above 800 people per square mile. It's hard for most conservatives to enjoy living in an apartment, especially if surrounded in 3 dimensions by Democrats, even worse if they are wealthy big nose New Yorkers.

Well if you too want to control everything around you, I guess it’s tough when you can’t.

But if you are a portable soul whose best and closest friend is God, there is no such problem.
