Video shows worst principal’s bizarre prom-like bash (Marcella Sills)

**SNIP**

Hardworking parents of kids at the notorious Queens “School of No” — many of whom live below the poverty line — are compelled to pay $150 to rent tuxes at Men’s Wearhouse and buy gowns at David’s Bridal, plus kick in $110 for the prom-like charade.

Video from last June’s function shows Principal Marcella Sills, on a dais, in a shoulderless white dress that could pass for a wedding gown, smiling as she surveys the boys and girls parading across a ballroom floor.

“She acted like it was more about her,” said one dad, Robert Oyola. “I thought it was crazy, but I didn’t want my son to miss out.”

I have seen on more than one occasion where the principal thinks that they “own” the school they are over and accountable to no one...they do things questionable and have no common grounding to it...

I know of one principal in a Jr High that has the kids repeat a morning saying about inner feelings and emotions that a kindergarten class would say...and when there is a huge school wide discipline problem, she scowls the teachers over the intercom in front of the student body...

this story isn’t an isolated one I’m sure...

“’She acted like it was more about her,’ said one dad, Robert Oyola.”

Because it is. Make no mistake, parents, this is a case of
the queen holding court.

Good gravy, check out this “review” from the NY investigators:

http://nypost.com/2014/01/14/parents-boo-terrible-principal-at-citys-school-of-no/

““There is significant room for organizational improvement,” Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña said. “But [Deputy Chancellor Dorita Gibson reported] that classrooms are orderly, teachers are dedicated, and students are learning. Going forward, I will have field staff at the school weekly to make sure those organizational changes occur.””

Are you freakin’ kidding me?

The kids in the video appear to be a decent bunch, someone seems to be doing something right.

If you didn’t pay to attend, you didn’t attend graduation. And my kid works hard, so I did what I had to do.

Graduate from what? Parents now days think there needs to be a graduation ceremony for every grade level including pre-school. From all accounts these kids did not work hard to celebrate any goal, unless that goal was to watch the most movies.

As for paying for what amounts to a cotillion, a responsible parent would just say no. Get like-minded parents together and have nice day at the local park if they want to celebrate the end of the year. Bring chips, sodas and a frisbee and save that $110 plus formal wear costs to put a month's food on the table.

Too many times, parents move into a neighborhood without checking out the schools and end up complaining about how their kids aren't getting a proper education. It's not the schools, it's the parents. Parents are paying the salaries. Parents need to make visits to the Superintendant's office. They need to voice their opinions to the school board. Heck, run for school board to make sure changes are made. Make phone calls and gather a group of parents to make a stand. But that would mean exerting a little effort and too many parents can't be bothered.

On the whole, we have good schools here but about once a year I had to get into the admin's face or put a stop to some stupid rule the principal made.

“The unmarried Sills, 48, who joined the school in 2005, has held the bash for years, parents said.”

This woman has issues.

Exactly. So much money is wasted on this nonsense.

The prom is a throwback to the days when graduation from high school represented the student’s entrance into the adult world. At one time, it was a dignified affair at which teenagers put on their best manners and presented themselves as ladies and gentlemen.

Today, it is often a display of slutty clothing and disgusting behavior.

We all have issues, this woman and those subject to her have PROBLEMS, A MAJOR PROBLEM, her! 'When she is out, an assistant principal is left in charge. Yet Sills, who gets a $128,207 salary, also pockets overtime pay — $2,900 for 83 hours in 2011, the latest available records show. “This school is a complete s- -thole, but nobody in a position of power comes to investigate. No one cares,” a community member said."' NY Post Jan 12. http://nypost.com/2014/01/12/no-space-no-books-no-leader-no-clue-at-citys-worst-elementary/

Yes, we all have issues, but we don’t all get to inflict our issues on everyone around us with impunity, like this lady seems to do.
