The United States has deployed a small team of military advisers to Somalia for the first time in more than 20 years.
Somali Defense Minister Abdihakim Haji Fiqi told VOA the American team has been in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, since October.
...
Fiqi said the American team is made up of five soldiers, but Mogadishu would welcome an increase in the numbers. There are no current plans to increase the size of the team.

We should have ‘deployed’ something there all right. It should have been deployed from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

I'd heard that Clinton Mac Daddy during his WH occupation didn't allow the military there to have the M1A Abrams tanks they requested.

There is no way in hell I would go into Somalia - unless I went in with 250,000 troops that set up a green zone from the beach outward towards the airport taking the seaside docks...that had Abrams tanks as guard towers with a 1 mile wide perimeter “no-go” zone...until Islam is taken out of that area - there’s going to be problems that no 5 man team is going to solve...what happened to the U.N.???

The GHWB mission to secure distribution of aid was changed by BJ Clinton to capturing the warlord, Mohammed Farrah Adid, whose followers controlled the Mog. Les Aspin, Sec Def, had removed the the Marines M1A1s and denied deployment of Specter guns ships as it was a bad image for the USA. The raid went tits up.

At least Aspin had the common decency to die. Christopher, Clinton, McNamara, et al, are unfortunately still living.

Of course, since murdering only five soldiers, and dragging them through the streets is never enough for the muzzies.
