(RAT) Senate inquiry blames State Dept. for Benghazi

WASHINGTON — The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report on the deadly assault on the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, Wednesday, laying blame on the State Department, the intelligence community — even the late Ambassador Chris Stevens — for failing to communicate and heed warnings of terrorist activity in the area.

The highly critical report also says the U.S. military was not positioned to aid the Americans in need, though the head of Africa Command had offered military security teams that Stevens — who was killed in the attack — had rejected weeks before the attack.

No blame for the guy who was sitting at the top of this mess, busy watching TV and preparing to do some fundraising?

That is BS. I understand from report that they could have supported within a few hours after the violence occur. Someone is lying?

If this story had been written about a Republican administration, the name of the President, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Defense would appear over and over, along with words like "beleaguered" and "embattled" and "troubled" and "controversial."

Not to mention "failed" and "disastrous."

On Thursday, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told senators on Capitol Hill that President Obama was not present the night that four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

According to their testimony, the two men met with Obama at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 11. That meeting lasted 30 minutes, they said. Afterward, they did not hear from anyone at the White House, including the president.

“A Defense Department timeline says that Panetta and Dempsey had been informed of the terrorist attack in Benghazi at 4:32 p.m.—28 minutes before they went into their meeting with Obama. At today’s hearing, Panetta said he informed Obama of the attack when they entered their 5:00 p.m. meeting. That was one hour and 18 minutes after the attack started and while it was ongoing,” CNS News said.

Panetta told Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) that Obama left operational details “up to us.”

“Did you have any further communications with him that night?” Sen. Ayotte asked.

“No,” Panetta said.

“Did you have any other further communications? Did he ever call you that night to say how are things going, what’s going on, where’s the consulate?” she asked in a follow-up.

“No,” Panetta said in response. “But we were aware as we were getting information about what was taking place there, particularly when we got information that the ambassador, his life had been lost, we were aware that that information went to the White House.”

Panetta also told Sen. Ayotte that they did not communicate with anyone at the White House and no one from the White House called for a status update.

Source: Slain ambassador Stevens said he was on al Qaeda list Sep 20, 2012

WASHINGTON - In the months leading up to his death, Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, worried about constant security threats in Benghazi and mentioned that his name was on an al Qaeda hit list, a source familiar with his thinking told CNN.

Stevens spoke about a rise in Islamic extremism and al Qaeda's growing presence in Libya, the source said.

Congress was warned about Libya last month SEPTEMBER 13, 2012

"This incident underscores what the State Department itself said in its late August travel warning: militia groups outside of state control are active in Libya and pose a direct threat to Libyans and foreigners."

According to Blanchard's report, which is titled Libya: Transition and U.S. Policy and dated August 9, 2012, Libyan security is severely hampered by several factors, as the country continues to emerge from civil war and moves haltingly toward unifying its governance and security institutions and ad-hoc groups.

Interesting that the Dem Senate is releasing this report even though it helps casts a bad light on their front runner.

If this negative report was Okayed by them, the real facts must be even worse.

Bombshell: Obama Administration Deleted State Dept. Memo From Internet After Discovering Al-Qaeda 9/27/12

Yesterday there were reports that the Obama Administration found out that Al-Qaeda was behind the Benghazi consulate attacks within 24 hours of the assault that killed four Americans.

So what was their first action? Did they secure the compound? – No, that took over a week to get FBI agents to the consulate Did they acknowledge it was an Al-Qaeda attack? No, Obama this week blamed the terror attack on a YouTube protest.

Here’s what they did – They scrubbed a damning State Department memo from the internet– On Wednesday September 12, 2012 blogger Speak With Authority discovered that five days before 9-11, the US State Department sent out a memo announcing no credible security threats against the United States on the anniversary of 9-11.

Email Shows State Department Rejecting Request of Security Team at US Embassy in Libya Oct 5, 2012 (video) ABC News

ABC News has obtained an internal State Department email from May 3, 2012, indicating that the State Department denied a request from the security team at the Embassy of Libya to retain a DC-3 airplane in the country to better conduct their duties. Copied on the email was U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in a terrorist attack on the diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, Sept. 11, 2012, along with three other Americans.

" ... Ambassador Stevens and the diplomatic mission in Libya made multiple security related requests that were turned down by Washington based officials. Security related transportation has been identified as one of the particular items where embassy personnel did not receive the support they sought.”
