Movie producer Harvey Weinstein announced for the first time on Howard Stern’s radio show that he is making a full feature drama to try to destroy the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Stern asked Mr. Weinstein on Wednesday whether he owned a gun. The Hollywood heavyweight replied that he did not and never would. “I don’t think we need guns in this country. And I hate it,” the producer said. “I think the NRA is a disaster area.”
Mr. Weinstein then revealed his secret project about the gun rights group. “I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard,” he said. “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on. And they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.” The shock jock asked whether the film was going to be a documentary. Mr. Weinstein said no, that it would be a “big movie like a ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.’”
The movie mogul said his vision was to scare people away from firearms. He foresees moviegoers to leave thinking, “Gun stocks — I don’t want to be involved in that stuff. It’s going to be like crash and burn.
The chairman of the Weinstein Co. (formerly Miramax) is one of President Obama’s biggest fundraisers. He brought in more than $500,000 from his Hollywood friends for the president’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee in 2012.

It would probably astound the younger generations of liberals to find out that there was a time when Hollywood actually made patriotic movies.
Let him waste a couple million with his pet project. If it hits big fine, in a country crowded with all types of people, lots of movies hit big at the box office, but have no lasting change on our culture. Meryl Streep is a known alarmist. Wasn’t she in the group warning us about Alar, a chemical that makes an apple look shiny? Turned out Alar was not such a big deal after all. The sky can only ‘almost fall’ so many times, then the majority of folks tune you out. Meryl is sort of last century’s actress, anyway. Her clout is greatly diminished.
Weinstein doesn’t carry a gun....that’s what his BODYGUARDS are for.
If he’s so scared of the NRA, why is he mocking them? I notice they never make fun of Muslims - is it because Muslims tend to behead the people who harass them?

Just before he talked about this movie (which my bet will never materialize) and how he thinks there should be no guns, he talked about making a movie about the Warsaw Uprising... which of course could not have happened without... guns. Hypocrite.

Without guns in their movies, Hollywood would go bankrupt in a month. Hollywood glorifies violence and then tries to atone for their sins by trying to take guns away from everybody else.

The only people this alleged movie project is going to scare away from guns are the ones who are ALREADY scared of guns. That will just make it easier for us when CW2 happens.
