Britain told its European Union partners on Wednesday the EU’s treaties were “not fit for purpose” and there must be reform or it would quit the bloc.

In the latest blast of euroskepticism from Conservatives in Britain’s coalition government, finance minister George Osborne said EU treaties had to be changed to protect member states like his own that don’t use the euro.

The comments, made at a conference in London on reform of the 28-nation EU, are unlikely to be embraced by integrationists in Brussels, who want Britain to remain in the bloc but have become irritated by its demands for change. …

Or the USSR. Like that entity, there are clauses in the treaty/constitution that promise secession, but in practice things are certainly different.

Thanks Olog-hai. Cameron’s resistance to the EU takeover of UK banking was the right move at the time, and remains so.

More pandering from Cameron. Note to Brit conservatives, you are NEVER getting a referendum under this idiot.

They will not get a referendum because the EU-crats know what the vote would be.

It is that way in most of the EU. The populations don’t want it.

Or the United States after the Civil War.

Maybe the EU will try to use military might to keep Britain in the EU.

Oh wait! Never mind.

Excellent series of YouTube videos of Nigel Farage of the UKIP party passionately and cogently arguing against further integration into the EU structure. In fact, he wants the UK to withdraw entirely.

He's a one-man voice of freedom over there. His UKIP is remarkably akin to our own Tea Party.

I've spent countless hours listening to his speeches in the European Parliament. He's funny, direct, and RIGHT.

I would encourage anyone with the time to search for any of his videos. Get some popcorn. He's a gas.

The EU elections are coming up in May and Cameron’s CINO’s are putting on a dramatic performance to deceive the grassroots about their position on the EU.

Scary is that we have a lot of Free Trader Communists that support the EU, and call UKs actions “isolationist and protectionist”

It would be a good start in ridding Free Trade Communist Globalism with the UK leaving the EU

Well, the fact is that espechially we Germans and the French are happy to get rid of the (true) Brits as soon as possible. They simply cause trouble and are only interested in open markets, while we want something different in the long run. We have to wait what happens in Scotland (there will be a referendum too, wheter the Scots stay inside the UK or not), since they are those who are pro-EU on the island. If they turn their back to the UK we would have Scotland clearly inside the EU and England and Wales outside, since a majority of the people living there are against the membership.

Something I could live with perfectly. “Old” Britannia is more orientated in English-speaking countries than on the old continent anyhow. It would simply be honest if they make a clear decision.

The only reason he's talking like this is to pander to potential UK Independence Party voters prior to the May 2014 EU Parliament elections. The nightmare scenario for all the pro-EU brit parties is for UKIP to increase its vote percentage in 2014, setting the stage for the 2015 parliamentary election.

If you want to use “Jawohl” in the millitary way to cartoon “typical Germans” you should write “Jawoll!”. In Germany they would say this is “zackiger”. I know: Since my English is horrible I throw stones in a glasshouse.

;)

That’s not what Google Translate says. It turns “Jawoll” into “Yep” . . .
