v. Jerry Brown said Monday his administration would soon declare an official drought designation for California to help maximize water resources across the state. Meanwhile, local Bay Area communities are already experiencing the effects.

“In many ways it’s a mega-drought; it’s been going on for number of years and then we also have the prospect of global climate change and that can affect us as well,” Brown said.

True, droughts do run in cycles and when you mess with the cycles, things change and not necessarily for the better.

The real drought has been in the foresight of state leaders to appropriate funds to build dams and reseroirs, something that has failed to happen here for years and years.

The drought is Deja Vu , remember the Brown years..

If it’s brown
flush it down..

If it’s yellow,
it’s mellow.

Too bad folks hadn’t done the same

in the polling booth last election.

Pass the sunscreen.

40 million people move to what is essentially a desert and then b*tch when the water runs low.

Sunshine is generally inversely proportionate to precipitation.

It is a good thing the resevoirs in the Sierra Nevadas are drained uselessly in the the rivers to protect minnows and mudsuckers. Those greedy farmers have been using all that water for far too long. Of course the important people on the coast ans LA will not have to worry about their water. They live right next to the ocean...right?

Why not instead of a billion dollars on a bullet train, we build 100 da#% desalinization plants up and down the coast?! 71% of Urf (earth) is covered by water, why can we not ‘harvest’ some of it already ?!

Exactly. Because more kickbacks are offered for the bullet train, apparently.

And back in the 1970’s, when according to Time magazine we were entering an ice age, California also had a drought.

Too bad cultural memory is so short.
