A day after he announced he was going to make a film taking on the NRA with Meryl Streep, Harvey Weinstein — the producer of several violent films — told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview to air tonight that he has had a change of heart about violent content in film. django-unchained-trailerAsked by Morgan about his hypocrisy of making these violent films, Weinstein said, “They have a point. You have to look in the mirror, too. I have to choose movies that aren’t violent or as violent as they used to be. I know for me personally, you know, I can’t continue to do that. The change starts here. It has already. For me, I can’t do it. I can’t make one movie and say this is want I want for my kids and then just go out and be a hypocrite.” He added that he would make a movie like Lone Survivor, “a tribute to the United States special forces,” but “I’m not going to make some crazy action movie just to blow up people and exploit people just for the sake of making it.” As far as Streep, he said, “people have to remember that Meryl Streep is an actress. This is nothing but a way to get publicity for himself, Streep and his movie.
What does “Lone Survivor” have to do with anything?
I wonder if he, like some in the media, is just stunned by its popularity.
His movies are so gratuitous, I wonder if he ascribes senseless violence to the NRA supporters.
He doesn’t associate with members of his audience, just takes their money.
“Silver Linings Playbook” had some moments, but it had no theme. And I couldn’t bring the kids because of that and because it had pornography, and which could have easily been left out.
The kids loved “Lone Survivor”. No unnecessary violence, no pornography, great theme likeable characters.
Weinstein is baffled by the concept. So is Streep. Tarantino doesn’t care.
They are going to be baffled by “Lone Survivor” which does not care about the Oscars.
The man is a degenerate who produces a degenerate product, and embraces a degenerate culture.
Sounds like he realized he crossed a bridge too far when he decided to go after the 2nd Amendment.
