Obama Can’t Help Dems Keep Senate
Commentary Magazine ^ | Jan 15, 2014 | Jonathan S Tobin

President Obama understands the stakes in the midterm elections all too well. If Republicans take back the Senate in November that will give them a stranglehold on both Houses of Congress and ensure that the president will get nothing passed in his final two years in office.

The White House is right that even in red states Democrats often prosper by playing the populist card on big business and abuse of the poor. Obama’s proposals for increasing the minimum wage and lengthening unemployment benefits may be economic snake oil, but they poll well everywhere.

It appears we have a "blood feud" within the party. The marxists are happy to exploit it. I believe that it is imperative that we find common ground with the establishment GOP.

Ridiculous.

The GOP has been progressively moving left since Reagan's time. We've continued to dutifully show up and vote for their quisling candidates, then watch as they stabbed us in the back over and over and over again.

Even when we've been in control of the legislature and the executive, they've done nothing to slow down the mad rush toward the fundamental transformation of America into a Socialist nation. The final insult was them running a man with a solidly liberal Democrat record for President.

When we finally found our feet and our voice in the form of the Tea Party, they declared war on us -- and now you think we need to "find common ground" with these traitors?

BS! Let them find common ground with us, or let it burn!

I agree. It is now or never. Our country depends on us to save her by electing conservative senators and representatives.

Local Republican organizations are the key. We should support them with our presence and our funds. We have to get the word out!

I think we better take over the Senate now, while we have the chance, or we’ll never will and won’t be able to stop the communist takeover the county.

Define "we", Kimosabe.

You seem to be advocating quite a lot for Republicans, but not so much for conservatives. It won't do the republic a damn bit of good if we elect a bunch of Grahams, McCains, McConnells, and Cornyns to the Senate.

Being part of the OLD silent majority, I say it ain’t going to happen. The key isn’t turnout it’s a good candidate at the top of the ticket. 2014 won’t bring a change. Too late for the Republic.

I said both sides need to find common ground or else the marxists will continue to control the country. I disagree with your characterization of Romney. It is that kind of attitude of let it burn that has us in the mess we are in and has the marxists in charge.

Do you honestly think that we would be in the economic condition we are in if Romney had been elected?

As someone said — we need to support the most conservative Republican, WHO CAN WIN in the general election.

Sometimes a “liberal Republican” (much as I don’t like them either) is the one who can give Republicans the majority.

SO what do YOU prefer — a Dem majority or a Republican majority?

Correct... obama cannot help the dims keep the senate... but republicans can ensure that they will and it looks today as if they are going to be successful.

And when are liberals going to admit that their goal with abortion is to decimate the birth rates of minorities

...why would liberals want to decimate the birth rates of their most trusted constituents...?

Which accomplishes exactly what?

What you're shielding your eyes from, is the fact that the Republican party is in abject treason to the principles upon which it was founded.

A liberal Republican is just as much a statist supporter of Socialism as any liberal Democrat -- they're just quieter and more polite about burning the Constitution.

It is absolutely pointless to elect such people.

No, you didn't. You said that we need to find common ground with them.

Freudian Slip? That statement revealed your mindset.

What you're failing to see here, is that these "Republicans" are enabling and supporting the very Marxist take over of the country that you fear. But you want me to pull out all the stops and help them get elected because they've got an R on their sleeve.

Get real. Our side has been played for so long that half don't even see what pawns they are to an oligarchy who are in abject treason to us and everything we stand for.

And yeah, Romney is a member of the elite who are selling us out.

Insults, huh? Last refuge of a coward who's lost the argument.

Wake up. The brow beating and scare tactics aren't working anymore. It's why your phony 'Republican' candidate lost to Obama.

The people demand heroes, and you and your ilk send us enablers. Then you have the nerve to accuse us of supporting the enemy when we reject them.

You stink!

Common ground means those things that will be beneficial to both groups at the same time. That is things like breaking the marxist stranglehold on the senate, block further encroachment of big government on citizen's rights, improve the economy and the employment situations.

Now what is are the major goals that you think conservatives should be trying to accomplish?

Only bottom line results count. Division among those who aren’t Dems is what enables Dems to win time and time again.

You're still missing it. People who think like you and I, are in polar opposition to the Boehners, McConnells, Cantors, Ryans, Grahams, Cornyns, Romneys, McCains, et al, who infest the Republican party. These are people who think 'immigration reform' is a dandy idea, and who won't lift a finger to stop Obamacare.

Look at what they do - not what they say. They have far more in common with our avowed enemies, than they do with us. What sort of common ground can we possibly find with such people?

Yes, because only if we control the Senate will the GOP start opposing Obama.

Division among those who aren’t Dems is what enables Dems to win time and time again.

The factor that you're failing to input into your analysis is that we're at war with an enemy that has two faces. One is the face of an avowed and knowing enemy, while the other is covert, and hides behind our own colors.

They're grudging allies who both see us as the greater enemy.

You can't "win" by supporting those who only pretend to represent us. It's paramount that all of us quickly separate the enemy from our true friends and allies.

Nope. Power means nothing to me.

Freedom, truth and honesty means everything to me.

Marco Rubio is a stinking liar, and a pitiful idiot, and I’m going to vote him out of office as soon as I can.

I do not care at all what letter is behind his name, because the letters R, G, O and P have no meaning whatsoever.
