Obama Can’t Help Dems Keep Senate
Commentary Magazine ^ | Jan 15, 2014 | Jonathan S Tobin

President Obama understands the stakes in the midterm elections all too well. If Republicans take back the Senate in November that will give them a stranglehold on both Houses of Congress and ensure that the president will get nothing passed in his final two years in office.

The White House is right that even in red states Democrats often prosper by playing the populist card on big business and abuse of the poor. Obama’s proposals for increasing the minimum wage and lengthening unemployment benefits may be economic snake oil, but they poll well everywhere.

I think in this election, as in most elections, but in this one it will be critical -- TURNOUT is everything.

Obama cant help the Dems keep the Senate...

But it sure seems the US Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, NRSC, and other ObamaCare/Amnesty supporters...are going to help the Dems and Obama keep the Senate

More and more folks are not just going to vote GOP because it is GOP

The Dems are doing everything to marginalize the GOP, see this article, all the way to associate the GOP with terrorism:

Derailing the GOP Jihad (Washington Post)

Obama Can’t Help Dems Keep Senate

Oh, but he can.

Not by showing up to campaign, but by transferring Federal Funds to Democrat election efforts.... money stolen out of the nonfunctional Obamacare website.

Not by showing up to campaign, but by ramping up voter fraud to a 15% - 20% level.

Not by showing up to campaign, but letting illegal immigrants vote, and suing to prevent voter ID checking.

Oh, he will be helping. In fact, I predict a Republican bloodbath.

I surely hope there is turnout. Conservative turnout and that they whisk away the RINO Senators and Congressmen in the primaries.

To me a “Republican” turnout is nothing more than another name for Democrat.

You are making excellent points, unfortunately.

I am still hoping for Republican victories, but they have to work really hard to overcome the Dem activities you outlined.

The Democrats have the votes to keep Graham in his SC seat.

They have laid out the game plan:

War on women
Economic inequality
Fund a Libertarian to bleed R votes

This isn’t rocket science. Rummys like me who listen to Rush and read FR know what is coming.

"Oh, but he can."

I agree 100%.
He is like a thief in the night. He will Lie, Cheat, steal, anything and everything just like he did to get re elected.
He will not play fair or even come close to fair. He is a low life scum. . . .

You said: “I surely hope there is turnout. Conservative turnout and that they whisk away the RINO Senators and Congressmen in the primaries.”

I guess you are advocating for these results:

“The only reason Harry Reid is still the Senate Majority Leader is that in 2010 and 2012, Republicans found themselves saddled with poor candidates in crucial races that turned almost certain victories into defeats. Democrats can’t count on the second coming of such godsends as Sharon Angle in Nevada (who let a vulnerable Reid off the hook), the wacky Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, or the unfortunate Todd Akin in Missouri (whose dreadful gaffe about abortion and rape tarnished every Republican in the country). But their goal has to be to keep the public’s attention on conflicts within the GOP and demonizing Tea Party activists who form a crucial part of the conservative base.”

...people will just assume the GOP will win. Meanwhile bus loads of Somalis will be escorted around the different polling places, have lunch and travel from place to place all the while, never once be challenged to prove citizenship.

Laz do you listen to Levin? The other night his sources told him that Obama had two conditions on the budget deal and if they went against his wishes, he'd veto it and blame the shutdown on "them". One was no language restricting insurance mandates ( i.e. abortion etc letting Sibilius reign of error continue ) and no language prohibiting the IRS from looking into 501(c)(4) organizations...

If that is correct may one ask, how Tea Party Activist and said organizations are going fair between now and November?

“They have laid out the game plan:

BINGO — including and especially your no. 3 — and Republicans fall for it every time. They are more interested in defeating GOP candidates, than defeating Democrats and they never learn...

I agree. It's about turnout. I have a theory, in what I am calling the Thunder Vote, that there are going to be some early elections that startle poll watchers, on both sides and it will be like rolling thunder up to the midterms.

I think the old "silent majority" (and the younger, disenfranchised vote) are about to make a statement.

If you have an R governor and R Sec of State, and this is going on, they need to be impeached.

..........I’m still hopin that somehow, someway, anyway we can get rid of the sob.

.......one way he could save himself and his family is just to pull a Nixon and resign and helicopter off into the sunset..............

oh, and get Biden to pardon him like Ford did for Nixon! To a certainty, this would be the smart move for him cuz the little prick is in way over his head! But, Biden won’t do it unless at least two years are left for him to be the BIG MAN!

I have checked out of the Republican Party and am now a scorched earth conservative. I do not care if the Republican Party acquires a majority in the Senate in 2014, or if they keep the majority in the House for that matter.

They are ball-less second tier appeasers with no souls or consciences who care nothing about our country save their own power and control.

Let it burn. We’ll have to start over with men and women who have a conscience and real values.

I surely hope there is turnout. Conservative turnout and that they whisk away the RINO Senators and Congressmen in the primaries.

To me a “Republican” turnout is nothing more than another name for Democrat.

IOW - The Dems have finally won, we have conceded, and the only way to undo it is with a bloody uprising?

I don’t buy that crap any more. I will not vote for a RINO again. There IS a conflict in the Republican Party. It is a conflict between those with conservative principles and those who deal primarily in lies. I won’t be a party to it any more. And, you can save your “you’ll just succeed in getting Democrats elected” speech. Not buying it.
