RE :”Publically opposing the Speaker’s reelection is not a gutless move”

I never used the word ‘gutless’, it was symbolic and meaningless to vote for someone not even running.
It was opposition designed by him to lose.
It was very safe for him to do that.

If he wanted to take a REAL stand he should have stepped up and challenged Bohner and run himself, as I kept posting before the new speaker election.

Call them up and challenge them to run. Tell us what they said?”

” - - - who is actually running to be serious - - - “

I am always serious about booting Boehner in his behind.

Every vote counts.

Who knows, he may even break out in a sobbing of epic proportions!

RE :”I am always serious about booting Boehner in his behind.”

Well the weak symbolic approach by Lou and others on that silly vote seems to have failed.

Bohner gave them the shutdown they demanded for two weeks, and it guaranteed that he got his budget passed with little opposition this year,

Now from what I read here GOPe is on counterattack.

If it worked so great Lou wouldn't be squealing now.

No, it’s not symbolic nor is it meaningless to do something that has consequences.

What difference would running himself make? How would that have been more meaningful to you? Boehner was going to win anyway.

Louis’ a little quick at the mike but that doesn’t make him a phony. It’s just a style of politickin’- which politicians have to do.

Now ALL our conservatives can be criticized because all of their votes were merely symbolic! But that is because they didn’t have the numbers to force their views on the House.
Another mere 20 or so conservativves would change that.

The GOP Establishment is doing its dead level best to crush all opposition that arises as they try to become more like Democrats.

ANYONE who dares to voice a dissenting murmur against Obamacrat Boehner will be stripped of official duties that Boehner hands out to those loyal to him.

I chose to chip away at Boehner, Cantor and Ryan because they have become indistinguishable from Democrats.

Eventually, the chipping away will cause a courageous fire-in-the-belly such as Trey Gowdy, SC, R, to risk it all and take on Boehner.

However, if Trey or others wait for everything to be a “sure bet” before the act, then they are no different that yourself.

Hes right—the words ring true. We Must Fight back! We are letting the RINOs, the Progressives, the Democrat/MSM win this game. They won it in 2012—I’m be Dammed if they should win it in 2014. Look what they did to Sarah Palin? Look what they are doing to Ted Cruz and Mike Lee? Let us March! Let us fill the streets with a Million Tea Party Loyalists. Let us say this to the GOP. “Change your ways, return to the Party of Ronald Reagan or we will make a new Party!” Then we need to drop out—all pull our support or funding from the GOP. I say—Better a Blue Dog Democrat than a RINO Republican traitor. A committee should look into founding the Liberty Party NOW! That or take over another established 3rd party! American, Conservative, Reform etc... But we must ACT—the time is pasing! We need new leaders to come forward —Rove and his cronies should be burned in effagee!
We need a newspaper—even if its on the Net! I have a name and a symbol—A Burning torch! The Torch of Liberty. I have a new Flag from another day—The Liberty or Death Flag of the Whiskey Rebellion (another tax protest). We must rally in the face of destruction—we must or we will vanish into the dust bin of History while the powers that be see the Progressives lock themselves into permanent rule—and a communist people’s social justice State. We really have no choice. We, the Cold Warriors who remember the USSR as it really was, must take the lead—NO USSA in our future! And what do we have to lose? We die now or in Obama’s Gulag to come. March, we have nothing to lose but our arches!

I wasn’t aware that people “ran” for speaker in the conventional sense.

I was always under the impression that people were nominated by the Congress and then voted for.

So Gohmert nominated someone else and voted for him. Sadly most voted for Boehner. Perhaps I’m wrong about the procedure...and I have no doubt you will let me know if you think I am. ;)

The Speaker doesn’t have to be a member of the House. Fact is that there weren’t enough pubbies with guts enough to take down Boehner nor a viable alternate.

If it worked so great Lou wouldn't be squealing now

It's amazing how easy it is to color something the way you want with the right choice of words. Guess we have to keep up the "squealing" until we win then.

As for symbolism, it's important, and sometimes it's all you've got. This is a fight for people's minds. We can't march troops into DC and throw the bums out by force. We can't even muster enough votes to beat a loser like Boehner. But we can keep selling the important ideas. People understand symbolism. It gets those ideas across.

Why do you suppose Gohmert is being excluded from any and all chairmanships? You know, positions of actual power? It's because Boehner and his eGOPers understand the power of symbolism. They don't want even a hint of dissent. Louie is paying a price for his symbolism. That gives him some street cred with me.

For the record, I think Gohmert voted for Allen West because West had a much bigger national profile and therefore had a genuinely better chance of winning than Gohmert did.

Another thought. If you're so sure he's just in it for the gravy train, why don't you run for something and show the rest of us how to get it right? I'm only being half sarcastic. I'd give my eye teeth to make it as far as Louie did. I can't get past the good old boy combiners here in Illinois. By design, I'm sure. So if you've got some way to overcome all that and rise to greater power to fix what's broke than Gohmert has achieved, I'd be genuinely interested in hearing about it.

He is in a position to make more widely known actions by Obama to make tea party organizations extinct by taxing them and preventing them from campaigning for any candidate.

The CT Tea Party sent a message to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus last Thursday in New Haven. John McKinney is the top Republican gun grabber and he's running for governor. Google "McKinney Must Go" and see our movement.

CT Tea Party is Alive and Thriving

RE :”The Speaker doesn’t have to be a member of the House. Fact is that there weren’t enough pubbies with guts enough to take down Boehner nor a viable alternate.”

The Speaker has to get more than one vote. One vote is not opposition as its not serious, it's a joke .

There were not any in the House. Not one stood up and said 'vote for me, I would do that job better than Bohner or Pelosi can, and here's why....'

Instead a handful each vote for different person on there own, not even in the house.

They all wanted Bohner as Speaker again so they could play act opposition. Its a classic Kabuki dance,

We don't know that. Lou would have to make a case for Bohner not being Speaker and himself doing something better.

What we do know is that's Lou's one vote for someone not in house was sure not going to stop Bohner, one vote versus all the votes Bohner and Pelosi got is not serious.

Lou like the others wanted Bohner as Speaker again so they could play act opposition to him, but somehow seem to lose most of the time, then get praised.

Its a Kabuki dance.

Lou like the others wanted ...

Really, with mind-reading skills of that caliber, you could really make a killing in the stock market. Oh, I know you're just drawing what you think is a reasonable inference, but honestly, if Lou was this absolute fake you're making him out to be, he'd never have gone down the path of opposing Boehner at all. Who wants to be a congress-critter without a chairmanship? There's no path to riches doing that. Your theory really doesn't add up. Sorry.

Its the path to his safe seat.

He comes from a nice small but solid bright red House district that is more than happy with his making symbolic gestures that almost always fail because they hear on AM radio that its good.

Lou got on my bad side of the tax cut cut extensions ~ a year ago.

I called his office back then and asked the ‘I dont know nothin’ lady’ if Lou knew that all our taxes would go up if he was successful in killing the tax cut extension, and she claimed she didn't know if he knew that.

The wanted Boehner to move to the right. And he did. Now, since the Republican collapse in October, he has obvious been told by the Establishment to get back in iine. All the more important to elect more conservative members of the House. The Establishment wants to avoid this. If the conservative caucus grows by ten, Boehmer will have an opponent.

Lou knows that the fatcats in Texas still support the likes of Cornyn. Cornyn wants to be senator for life and he will always find that sweet spot that makes a hit for the big shots.
