.... as Mr. Whitbeck was quick to point out, he is the only aspirant who resided in the district as recently as four months ago. (First reported by the Times-Mirror, both Mr. May and Ms. Wexton took up residences in the 33rd District boundaries in the second half of 2013.)

I wonder how the weather will affect the turnout? Will more Democrats or Republicans turn out early or will it make any difference? The fact that a former Republican is running as an independent along with an official Republican against the Rat will also be a challenge.
Personally, I think that any candidate for a state or local position....should have been a resident or tax-payer of the state for at least twelve months....maybe even twenty-four months, before running. I even think that you ought to reside twelve months in a state before being allowed to vote there, and sign a bond-promise of $5,000 if you get caught in a dual-voting situation.
Typical Democrat tactic!
The dims will steal this one too and the republican party will applaud. Maybe you can get a reality TV show called “McAwful goes wild”... because it is coming. Virginia is lost.
Yea, I don’t think anything can save the little Republican voters in VA from themselves. They did as much as anyone in 2012 to nominate Romney then wouldn’t back him in the fall. They probaby don’t even understand how the “Independent” is a Democrat shill.
This is a race with two republicans and one democrat in a democrat district.
I wonder who will win?
I wonder how much the embittered “independent” will receive in cash payouts and special favors if this progressive Democrat tactic succeeds yet again in draining off enough votes from the Republican to allow the progressive Democrat to win.
Yeah, they keep falling for the same tricks.
The Fed Gov cancelled work today because of an irrational fear of snow. I think it was to encourage more fed workers to vote, and around here, that means more Dems.
The winning party takes control of the state Senate.
Just voted here in the eastern part of the district. I was 488 out of about 3600 registered. Moderate turnout.
Not looking good; with 70.59% of the vote counted, the Rat leads with 52.67% to the Republican 37.05% and the independent 10.27%
Evidently that’s the same split in 2012. Dem district and the bad guys seize the majority in the Senate. Perhaps a conservative Dem can be talked into switching parties.
It’s over. The Rat wins with 52.71% of the vote and the turnout was something under 10%.
Now I know how Hitler’s neighbors felt. We were one blitzkreig away from domination.
And now everything’s changed.
There’s the recount in the other race — though we know how those go.
Two GOP candidates, Whitbeck and May splitting what right-of-center vote there was in that district — no surprise at the outcome.
Yes, and such a low turnout shows how ineffective the GOP turnout the vote effort was. All state wide offices and the Senate in Rat control will lead to all sorts of trouble in the Old Dominion. Only the House can serve as a check in the run up to the push for Hillary in 2016 and McAuliffe is an expert in corrupting the opposition.
I’m disappointed. This was a Key election and by inaction they and the rest will be screwed. By some effort I found some information about the candidates. Mr. Whitbeck is labeled as a lawyer and head of a local HOA. Well that’s just great. J. cupcake is against whatever and she wins.
RPV said nothing until 2 days before.
It’s like the RPV didn’t try. I saw Rat ads every hour, nothing from the Republicans. Has the party given up? Virginia is more than sliding away, it is galloping.
