Imagine how much EBT fraud could be cut if the EBT card had the owner’s picture on it? Just like a driver’s license.
From what I have read, the Feds are adamantly against this. Too many people are making too much money off EBT fraud.
A picture on an EBT card wouldn’t make much of a difference. Biometric verification at the point of purchase would be far better.
Drug dealers collect and hold cards for their “regulars”. They get cash back through crooked storefronts. I was shown the details of these scams by a woman that is currently doing a 5 year term at Framingham. Oh yeah, she’s also got SS disability for “bi-polar”. Amazingly, SS cut her off after more than 30 days in the can.
The pills come from going into the “free” doctor and getting a prescription for “back pain”.
There is a whole sub-culture in Massachusetts that lives multi-generationally off the taxpayer.
