TAUNTON — A Granite Street woman was charged with drug trafficking Thursday afternoon after police said they recovered nearly 19 grams of heroin stuffed into her bra.
Police said 37-year-old Kelly Jean Gagnon also had 13 Massachusetts EBT food stamp cards and 13 Suboxone pills, which are prescribed to counter heroin addition, stashed away in her first-floor apartment at 11 Granite St.
Taunton detectives, and at least one Drug Enforcement Administration agent, confiscated the drugs and other items during the execution of a search warrant.
Electronic Benefits Transfer cards are commonly used by drug users and dealers in lieu of cash, according to police.
When officers pulled up to the apartment building they said they saw Gagnon in the driveway talking to a woman and two local men, one of whom has a rap sheet for dealing drugs.
It was after she was ordered to put her hands in the air, and told they had a search warrant for her apartment, that police said Gagnon told them the "stuff" they were looking for was in her bra.
Gagnon allegedly handed over 18.5 grams of heroin after police took her inside the apartment and handcuffed her. The pills, EBT cards and an electronic scale were reportedly all inside the dwelling.
Gagnon was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and heroin trafficking. She was released on $3,500 bail after being arraigned Friday in Taunton District Court.
An individual convicted in Massachusetts of trafficking between 14 and 28 grams of heroin faces a mandatory 5-year prison sentence.
The apartment house at 11 Granite St. is where Taunton resident Joseph Dugan was murdered in 2010, when he was shot once in the back of the head while talking to two women.
She doesn’t seem to be black, Hispanic, Moslem, or Eastern European. She does, however, appear to be a man.

Imagine how much EBT fraud could be cut if the EBT card had the owner’s picture on it? Just like a driver’s license.
From what I have read, the Feds are adamantly against this. Too many people are making too much money off EBT fraud.
A picture on an EBT card wouldn’t make much of a difference. Biometric verification at the point of purchase would be far better.
Drug dealers collect and hold cards for their “regulars”. They get cash back through crooked storefronts. I was shown the details of these scams by a woman that is currently doing a 5 year term at Framingham. Oh yeah, she’s also got SS disability for “bi-polar”. Amazingly, SS cut her off after more than 30 days in the can.
The pills come from going into the “free” doctor and getting a prescription for “back pain”.
There is a whole sub-culture in Massachusetts that lives multi-generationally off the taxpayer.
Interesting. She didn't even imagine they were there for the EBT cards. Those were considered a safe activity.
These subhuman parasites are disgusting. Those in “authority” who refuse to do anything about this illegality and immorality are beyond disgusting.
The authorities who administer these vote-buying programs and the entire Government “safety-net” apparatus are themselves another subculture living multi-generationally off of taxpayers.
When I was a cop we dealt with this all the time. A woman exchanged her Ohio Direction card monthly grocery benefit to a guy for cash. He got caught. The woman admitted it. I called the State of Ohio, identified myself, told them I was going to leave a police report and both parties admitted. I asked them what I should do with the card. The answer “Just give it back to her.” I cut it up and threw it in the garbage.
Had another guy, lifelong criminal. Never worked a day in his life. He went to prison for a shooting. when he got out he called the police and I got sent. He wanted to prosecute his girlfriend. When I asked him for what he told me that while he was in prison his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend obtained his Federal Income Tax rebate check, forged his name and cashed it.
I asked him how much the check was for. $4,000.00.
Never worked a day in his life. Career criminal and spent the whole year in question in prison.
Our government at work destroying our nation.

They were probably payment for drugs.
Liberals refuse to acknowledge the fraud. They don’t really care. Once they’ve gotten their self-righteous high for “helping people”, they don’t really care how much the program is abused or how much it actually hurts people.
