KABUL (PAN): Up to 36 foreigners were among 40 Taliban fighters killed during air strikes by Pakistani forces on Monday night and Tuesday in the troubled North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghanistan border, media reports said on Wednesday.
Security officials told the Pakistani media 33 Uzbeks and three Germans were among those killed in the air strikes which appeared to be a tit-for-tat response to Taliban-claimed bombings in northwestern Bannu town and the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
The report said important Taliban commanders, including Wali Mohammad, Asmat Shaheen, Maulvi Farhad Uzbek and Shaheen Betini, were among the dead.
Carried out on the basis of intelligence reports, the blitz also left another 15 insurgents injured and led local residents to flee for safety to nearby settled areas.
The coordinated operation by Pakistan’s Armed forces, including Air Force, involved gunship helicopters and jet fighters that pounded militant hideouts in North Waziristan and adjoining tribal areas on Tuesday.
The bomb in Bannu killed 23 people and the suicide attack in Rawalpindi killed 13 people, including eight army persons.

When I saw the headline my first thought was that this was an article posted from the Weekly World News, saying they were space aliens. For all of the humanity they manifest, they might as well be.
