For more than two centuries, a dark and sinister secret has laid buried deep within the walls of the ancient Bithynian kingdom.

Archaeologists excavating the 2,300-year-old remains of the region in modern-day Bursa, Turkey have uncovered a series of dungeons and tunnels that would have been used to lead prisoners to their death.

Inside these dungeons, the researchers also found torture chambers, death pits and even a well covered in what appears to be blood. Bithynia was an ancient kingdom and Roman province in the northwest of Asia Minor between 297 and 274BC. The dungeons were found during restoration of the Zindan Kapi part of the wall, in the Alacahirka region of modern-day Bursa.

These dungeons were connected to towers where prisoners would have been kept.

Hangmen of the time, who were deaf and mute, would have cut off the heads of the prisoners and thrown them into the well, while remaining body parts were given to the prisoner’s relatives.

The hangmen were also known to have sold the dead bodies back to the families for a price.

You’ve seriously got to get from behind your screen and meet some real people...in Turkey. I’ve been there. They’re pretty much the same as everyone, everywhere.

Bigotry = ignorance = more ignorance

/BTW: homegrown beer in Turkey absolutely sucks
//you wouldn’t know that, since your knowledge of the world is limited to fantasy
///I’ve walked on the ruins of Troy. Travel accompanies a college degree and an adult job.
////You probably possess detailed knowledge of SPORTS!!!!

3.5 million genocide victims don’t upset you. That’s just between 1915-1923. Google it dummy.

People alive today didn’t commit the Armenian genocide any more than I am responsible for the slavery of blacks in the ante bellum South.

Totally different situation. Collectively the Turkish parastate is indeed responsible. It exists and continues to deny its sordid past. A past that infects its present btw. The Confederacy was defeated and no longer exists. There is a case to be made for descendants of slaves seeking reparations from those individuals whose ancestors enslaved them...and who engaged in human trafficking.

I’ve spent time with Turks and am the descendent of slaveholders.

We’re all just people, regardless of what frightened bigots need to believe.
