GILBERT, Ariz. Arizona's Gov. Jan Brewer described The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Gilbert Arizona Temple as "a beacon of hope, faith and love to all those who come to this sacred building and its beautiful grounds. It is a special place ... a place of spiritual refuge in this troubled world.
"This temple is also a testament to those who came before you. With faith, fortitude and devotion to God, Mormon pioneers settled much of this state, including what would become the town of Gilbert."
Gov. Brewer made these comments after she visited the temple on Thursday, Jan. 16, two days before the public open tours were scheduled to begin. Elder William W. Walker of the Seventy and executive director of the Temple Department, hosted Gov. Brewer and other special guests, among whom were government, religious, civic, education and community leaders.

Sounds great, I’ll be there in a few months and would like to sit in on a service, we’re welcome aren’t we?
Its Arizona. It would be incredibly stupid for a governor here not to show somw respect to such a large voting block. And, last I checked, the mormons aren’t the reason I worry whether or not my kids are safe at a park, or my car is safe downtown. They are good neighbors. I don’t have much in common with their beliefs, but I don’t mind the majority of their values.
Nice. Don’t worry about the naysayers.
Why of course everyone who has a good boy pass can get in, you should apply. It’s not hard everyone should do it.
I guess not many of these latter-day Arizonians like Brewer have read much of Zane Grey’s novels written in the early 20th century about 19th century Mormon activity in the American West.
Had a fellow that worked for me on one of my project teams. He is an incredible asset, a great family man and has hard working as any individual I have worked with before.
He invited me to the open initial completion of his temple a while back but a conflict arose and I didn’t get to make the visit. I found out later that I was the only person he invited to a visit. I considered the invitation a great compliment as he knows I am centered where I am, but invited me to share in his devotion to his faith.
His tradition and faith are well outside mine. I am very glad he is my countryman and friend.
>> the mormons arent the reason I worry &etc
Well said. They are not part of “Thy kingdom come”, but neither do they define the problem.
Interesting.
I think you know the open house won’t be going on in a few months, and William casually admits that ID is required proving that a Mormon gives 10% of all their earnings to Mormonism before they can be temple members.
Even average morons can’t be temple Mormons unless they are of the most devoted (and give at least 10% of their income to the religion).
That is why ID is issued and has to be shown before entering and being a member of the inner sanctum and the secret ceremonies.
Even Ann Romney’s parents were forbidden entrance to watch their daughter married to Mitt, young Ann, who had been personally coached and converted by Mitt’s powerful father (and Ann’s governor) before they could marry, as Mitt was evading the draft in France.
Lol, strange response to post 2.
Since you used the term " morons ", I assume that you purposely meant it.
You may attent the "Open House" regardless of your religious beliefs .
In order to attend a religious service, I believe you must hold a 'temple reccomend '.
I believe your bigotry may be showing !!
Actually the word “morons, was a mistype that I didn’t catch.
You do keep ignoring my posts, and this is twice that you pretend I was talking about the open house.
Read the actual post, ID is issued and required of Temple Mormons, it is proof that they have given 10% of their earnings to the religion.
Try actually reading post 10, you will learn some things.
Please excuse me for not staying on topic
I am not ingoring your posts
I am ignoring your BIGOTRY There is a difference between the two .
or as you originally stated : " Read the actual post.. "
It seems that you just want to vent with some personal attacks.
Read post 2 again, your response to it didn’t make sense.
You seem to be posting without even reading the posts that you are responding to.
They take a test. Among the questions is “Do you tithe 10 percent?” and “Have you abstained from caffeine for the past six months?” All you have to do is answer correctly.
I knew a Mormon who drank cokes and ate chocolate and her Bishop told her it was okay because those things didn’t exist when Joseph Smith wrote the requirements.
Remember the ad from the 80s? “Seven-Up. The un-cola. No caffeine. Never had it. Never will.” I’m sure it sold well in Utah.
The Bishop can require proof if he doubts you, passing the interview and standards is only done by as little as 15% of Mormons, and those who pass are reexamined every two years, and the ID must be renewed twice during that period since it is only good for one year.
Normal Mormons who don’t pay enough, or have other failings, can only attend the plain church buildings, and they get a lower form of heaven, and can’t they become Gods themselves.
Harry Reid is a Temple Mormon, he and Mitt are planning to become Gods, with their own planet to rule over.
Perhaps a little knee jerk on my part. I thought you might be posting negative about a reasonably good people. I misunderstood if that wasn’t the case. I guess my only point is, whatever the Mormons rules. I’ve never been unhappy being their neighbor, coworker or friend. We’ve got so many valid things to worry about when it comes to the direction of our nation.
I doubt that there will be religious services during an "Open House ".
I will ask that they "keep the light on for ya " ( Just like Motel #8 ) , but I doubt that I have any 'juice' there.
Good luck to ya if you miss the "Open House " as mentioned in the article title.
