Conservative filmmaker behind anti-Obama documentary indicted for violating election law

The conservative filmmaker behind a hit anti-Obama documentary was indicted Thursday night on charges he violated federal campaign laws, in what a close colleague is calling a “selective prosecution.”

Dinesh D'Souza, whose “2016: Obama’s America” is the second-highest grossing political documentary of all time, will appear in U.S. District Court in New York Friday.

The indictment states the 52-year-old best-selling author and activist will be charged with one count of illegally donating to a Senate campaign and one count of causing false statements to be made to authorities in connection with the contributions.

FoxNews.com has confirmed that the donation in question was made to Republican Wendy Long, who lost a 2012 Senate bid against New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

D’Souza is accused of directing various donors to give contributions to Long’s campaign totaling $20,000, and then reimbursing them. Individuals are only allowed to donate a maximum of $5,000 to a candidate per election cycle.

This is another revealing aspect of the lengths the Obama administration will go to enable Obama.

However, there is a positive side. Not for Dinesh D'Souza but for more Americans who may see his film. Dinesh D'Souza's “2016: Obama’s America” is the second-highest grossing political documentary of all time.

I recommend viewing “2016: Obama’s America” and follow that by viewing the documentary, “Mitt”. This provides the opportunity to juxtapose the two individuals. Better late than never.

We have become East Germany were our every move is watched by the government and political dissent is punished under trumped up charges.

Look, the laws apply to everyone. If he violated them, then accountability should follow. But if this guy is being singled-out and other similar contributions on the other side are overlooked, than that is an outrage. But what can be done? Now his only choice is to defend himself in court. Who’s ever going to know the truth?

If no one ratted, then how did they know he did this. Oh wait, the NSA was watching him, selectively. His lawyer needs to pursue that. This goes on all the time in the corporate and nonprofit world, and nothing is ever done.

RICO comes to mind here.

Perhaps.

But when charged with a misdemeanor one must watch their every step and always consult with a good attorney. Because a misdemeanor can quickly elevate to a felony especially when someone is gunning for you.

"This is a VERY intelligent man!How could he step in a pile of Sh*T like this?"

Dinesh D’Souza seems to be getting pretty adept at stepping into piles of s*** like this, doesn't he?

He has intelligence, influence, wealth -- what could possibly go wrong?

"Because a misdemeanor can quickly elevate to a felony especially when someone is gunning for you...."

..... It should be interesting to see how different this case is handled as opposed to a very similar case against Pierce O’Donnell for excessive donations to the Edwards campaign in 2011.

..... D’Souza is also being charged with one count of giving false statements to the FEC, which carries a maximum of five years in prison.

.... Considering all of the legal charges being levied against conservative groups and individuals recently .... it certainly appears that there is some form of purge taking place here in the new Amerika. A move to silence the voice of opposition against the ruling party.

We are all missing the bigger picture....

Felony-smellony look what they did in less than 48 hrs. Dinesh D'Souza and James O'Keefe now have to Lawyer up and can't say a bleeping thing....

Ask yourself why?...

To shut them up for the 2014' Election Cycle, they are effectively charged like you could a "Ham Sandwich", it is not that they are guilty, it is more important they MAKE NO FILMS OR SPOOFS BETWEEN NOW AND 11/14', because their Lawyers will tell them to maybe go out and get your mail and that is about it.

We have been checkmated again. They must be scared lhitsess with their internals to try to lock down all opposition and any attempt to appeal to "Indies", in an all out attempt to keep Harry Reid in charge in the Senate.

Yup. I was talking to my mother about it tonight. They have ramped up their efforts massively in the last couple of days. At the rate we’re going we’ll start seeing arrests within days and “our” speaker seems pleased as punch about it.
