Welcome to Jobless America

It is becoming laughable to hear the Obama administration talk about a so-called “recovery.” Supposedly, this “recovery” started in June of 2009; however, in reality our economy is on life support and the latest jobs figures just confirm this horrible news.

In the government’s December labor report, the nation’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent, which is our lowest rate since October of 2008. While this may be heralded as good news, it is truly disturbing. Unfortunately, only 74,000 new jobs were added last month, the worst job growth numbers since January of 2011.

This is anemic job creation, a fraction of the 200,000+ new jobs needed each month just to keep pace with the nation’s population growth. It is even more shocking since most analysts predicted approximately 193,000 new jobs in December.

Even worse, of the new jobs, 40,000 were temporary positions, not what wage earners need to care for their families. Not surprisingly, the average work week for Americans dropped to only 34.4 hours. So, there are few full time jobs being created and on average Americans are working less. No wonder there are 47 million Americans on food stamps and over 50 million people who are considered poor.

The reason the unemployment rate dropped is that an astounding 347,000 Americans left the work force in December. This means that 5 times more Americans exited the labor pool than located new jobs. Our country now has 91.8 million Americans not in the work force. These are Americans who are receiving benefits, living off their savings or living on the streets. Many of these Americans have given up any hope of finding work and for these poor individuals; the hope of the American dream is over.

We cannot have a “recovery” with no jobs. There can be no “recovery” with a labor force participation rate of only 62.8 percent, the lowest level since 1978. In December, the country’s civilian labor force dropped to 154.9 million. This is occurring at the same time that the population is increasing to 317 million.

If the labor force participation rate was the same today as it was at the start of the Obama administration, the nation’s unemployment rate would be over 11 percent. If that were the case, experts would be worried about an economic “crisis” and not boasting about a “recovery.”

There could be even worse news in future months. Due to Obamacare, the healthcare industry will face a severe crisis. In December, 6,000 healthcare jobs were lost, the first time in 10 years that there have been any losses in healthcare. This trend will likely accelerate in 2014 as the truly disastrous policies of Obamacare are implemented.

If the President was truly concerned about the economy, he would immediately halt the onslaught of Obamacare and start working on pro-growth policies of tax and budget reform and sensible energy policies such as construction of the Keystone pipeline. Sadly, the President is still committed to pro government, anti-growth positions that exacerbated these problems in the first place.

While the administration claims that “Happy Days are Here Again,” the reality is that our economic clouds are darkening and a major storm is coming our way.

When that crowd loses their jobs they'll be singing a different tune.

Well, not exactly. You just need to lift the horizon of your vision to observe what is being constructed

Yes they do. The buildings are full of machines to spy on us, subdue us, and confine us.

Oops.

You’re right. As of November the latest data compiled, here are the numbers:

America sold to China: 109 billion.
China sold to America: 403 billion.

This “global trade” thing stinks.

The demonrats have about destroyed our economy and their voters will be the last to know that we are becoming like the evil nation of Germany under the hateful Hitler.
Professing themselves to be wise they became fools and changed the glory of God into an image made like unto a man...
The left of the world are liars and murderers by nature as is their leader, Satan.

[Now that I’m old, the don’t build large buildings.]

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord (Jesus), but sin is a reproach to any people.

And the demonrats will be the last to know this fact even as America sinks to the bottom of the sea of humanity much like the Titanic sank to the bottom of the Atlantic. The sin of pride is the worst sin of all and the left loves the I wills, as Satan did before Jesus saw him cast out of heaven like lightning.

I don't believe this islamist President is committed to anything other than the destruction of the United States and the installation of sharia law.

While it is true there are many without jobs, it is also true that there are many with jobs. The economy is operating at a different level than previously. Companies have adjusted to the current levels and many, but not all especially small businesses, are profitable.

The cash has been hoarded. There are indications that the horded cash is now being allocated to capital spending for growth and more importantly to permit operations at a less costly and reduced level.

Although the Fed is said to be responsible for the level of the markets, there is an element of profit and growth of profitability. That is a factor in the price increase and is the reason to have a position in stocks.

There are many without jobs. That is a matter of choice.

There are untold numbers of jobs available for those that make the effort to learn to drive a truck. Loans are available for the training

In two areas of Texas and another in North Dakota jobs go begging and those there work very long hours doing just about everything. Oil workers need to be fed and payrolls need to be calculated and paid with deposits in banks and on and on. If you show up, you can find a job

But but but but there must be a recovery! Industry insists, and congress agrees to the tune of 65,000 H-1Bs, that there are no unemployed American engineers!

That's bull. Unemployment problems were here before Obama and will be here after Obama. Bring the jobs home.

They sure have. Remember when the Republicans were in charge during George W. Bush’s presidency? The economy was thriving and unemployment was practically nonexistent.

I'm all for buying Made is USA, but if the companies support far left causes, I'll avoid them to the best of my ability.

In fact, I already have made that choice. It left me with a severe case of buyer's remorse, but at least I didn't support hrc.org by buying from one of their partners.

“Now that I’m old, the don’t build large buildings.”

Sure they do; they’re called “self-storage units”, and they’re used to ease Americans into our reduced standard of living where home ownership is a thing of the past.

“Things changed good to worse in 2007 when the rats took over”

The Dems are making matters worse, but if things were good in 2007 then Obama would have never been elected. In fact, if things were good in 2000 Gore would have been elected; this has been a gradual downward spiral simply accelerated by Dems.

Idiots here on Free Republic enthusiastically embraced shipping jobs to asia, and were defending it against all debate years ago. These were, by and large, the same idiots who insisted that there was no real estate bubble and it wasn’t going to pop.

The cost of obtrusive government regulations, from waste disposal laws that became ludicrous to extravagant building and safety codes are big parts of this, and a lot of people explained what the consequences would ultimately be.

We aren’t laughing now, but certainly mockery and calling into question the capacity to make a salient assessment is appropriate for those who insisted that our level of government intrusion was not going to have the effects we are seeing now.

Not all of the damage started with Obonghit.
