Americans who hope for more such “fairness” should be very worried about Obama’s agenda. Yes, it sounds very much like what they want, but if Obama’s presidency has demonstrated anything, it is that he produces results that are the opposite of what he preaches (Exhibit A: Obamacare).

Government redistribution designed to reduce income inequality rewards and subsidizes those who are less productive and penalizes the productive. The result is that the ranks of the unproductive swell while those of the wealth-producers shrink. Society gets poorer.

"But refuting requires a free and open press. What happens when that press is on the side of evil?"

What happens is what we've seen for the last five years - the press will NOT challenge government abuse of power.

My bad, a correction: “What happens is what we’ve seen for the last five years - the press will NOT challenge government abuse of power if the president is a Democrat who pursues policies designed to destroy the country.”

I think money should be removed from Sasha and Malia’s college fund to buy me a bunch of new stuff. I feel this would be “only fair”.

Obama’s inequality message is aimed at Blacks, Hispanics, immigrants, and poor white women, four groups who traditionally have very low turn out in off year elections.

If the Democrats can turn out those four groups at the same rate white voters turn out, the game is up for Conservatives.

In a democracy, the Left doesn't need to win the argument.

They just need to win the election.

Regardless of partisan preferences or political leanings NOBODY who wants the USA to prosper should favor political attempts to modify the natural disparities in labor, compensation that emerge in a market economy.

Doing so alters incentives in dangerous ways. AND NUTHIN CAN ALTER MOTIVATION LIKE A COLLECTION OF GOV'T GIVEAWAY PROGS.

Every time they bring this up, we should say “yes, there is income inequality. Government workers make far more than comparable workers in the private sector. So let’s begin, Mr. President by removing oh, ten percent from government worker pay checks and transfer this to private sector workers. “

If we all do this, they’ll shut up about income inequality pretty quickly.

Simple three step plan for ending income inequality. It works every time it’s tried.

1.) Improve your value to the labor market by improving your skills and education
2.) Get a job.
3.) Work hard at that job.

n a democracy, the Left doesn't need to win the argument.

They just need to win the election.

That's why the vote should be denied to those on the dole. It's a conflict of interest for them to be voting.

Now, a new paper argues, inequality is not only bad for those at the bottom. It is also bad for economic growth as a whole and a major reason why the recovery from the Great Recession has been so weak.

Fallacy of the omitted variable. In a nutshell the government response to the Great Recession was to print money and give it to large banks. That's a great way to both continue the recession and increase income inequality.

Inequality is the result of inequality.

For many reasons some just don’t have it. Being unequal makes them unequal

Unless it's a Republican, then they'll challenge 24/7/365.

Income Inequality

What is "income equality"? Is it a ratio between two or more incomes? I assume every other ratio is incorrect and becomes income inequality. It is important to know what income equality is so you can recognize income inequality when you see it. Is there a target ratio we should seek?

“The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.” Aristotle

“It is a wise man who said that there is no greater inequality than the equal treatment of unequals” Felix Frankfurter

I may just be afraid that discussing income inequality will be similar to discussing man caused global warming. Everyone is discussing it but no one knows what the atmospheric temperature should be.

A market-derived system of free enterprise capitalism must have unequal incomes. This will be true under any government whose primary function is to protect the property rights of its citizens. Other forms of government may have equal incomes, which means the citizens may be comfortable but they have nowhere to go.

Dang, still waiting to hear what the correct wage distribution is. Not sure if I’m earning enough, too much, etc.

Your fair wage can be determined by adding your salary to that of (Oprah, Chuck Schumer, Rachel Maddow, Bill Gates, John Kerry, Al Gore - Take your pick) then dividing it by two. You get half and they get to keep half (unless you make more than they).

Choose one and be sure to write them tomorrow telling him/her that you COMPLETELY agree with their published statements on the need for an equitable distribution of wealth in this country. Be sure to get a Certified Check!
