New York (AFP) - Procter & Gamble Friday revealed its latest challenge to earnings glory. This time it's a facial issue.

The US consumer giant, fresh off a recent corner office shakeup and already facing a battle for market share in shampoo, said second-quarter earnings were marred by the growing preference of men for moustaches and beards, which hit sales in its "grooming" segment.

Given current trends, all they need do is create a razor that shaves only about one-third of the beard hair, leaving behind a nice five o’clock shadow that lasts all day.

I agree. It even bothers me when my wife wants to trim my eyebrows and nose hairs

Just wait until your ear hairs starts growing like weeds, if they haven't already.

That’s what my hair did. Retired and moved south (from the top of my head to my ears).

My son also likes the brush and mug best.

The title is deceptive. They exceeded Wall Street expectations.

Rick Harrison and others are right. I bought a 1954 Gillette double edged razor, 100 Wilkinson blades (20 cents each), and a nice badger brush and mug set (Christmas present). It works great and costs very much less. Canned shave cream is evil. It’s too thick.

Double sided razor run about 10 cents each on Amazon. The drawback is the razor that uses them runs $20-30...but with Gillette selling blades at $3+ each, it doesn’t take long to pay for the razor.

They do not give as close a shave as the multiple blade shaving heads, but they come close - better than an electric razor. I use a bar of hand soap to lather up. Swipe once with the grain, lather again and once against the grain.

Safety razors? We dun need no stikin' safety razors.

You're almost there. A good Dovo straight razor and strop is cheaper than many electric razors and offers a much better shave. Turns a morning chore into a focused Zen like experience. Tranquility with a hint of danger. When you start the day with a cutthroat razor everyone else is just a pajama boy.

Funny.. you posted this...I went out about a month ago to find double sided razors blades and the razor...

I was bound and determined to find a set and forget about buying the expensive disposables..

I found the blades in several stores...inexpensive, but not one store sold the actual razor...

I never thought of checking Amazon... thanks for the tip...

It is because the stinking pack of blades costs a small fortune.

“The mustache I’ve had since I was 7 and I’m not getting rid of it.”

Yep. Mustache at 14 and beard at 17. (stopped shaving when they handed me a high school diploma) Do shave the neck though.

34 years just flew by.

Estate sales, tag sales, garage sales. Can even find all-gold alloy or gold-plated ones. Very smooth!

I like when my husband manscapes for the beach. He does natural body building and it makes his muscles really stand out. He keeps the manly chest hair, but just cleans the rest up a bit. Nothing wrong with it.

Personally, I'll just continue to shave with my razor sharp ax.

The main problem is that I sometimes forget to bring it in after chopping the wood.

I’m old enough that my dominant hand shakes a bit. I like a close shave, but bleeding is not a personal objective. I have a couple of spots where I use the two hand 1911A1 grip.

I have had a goatee for years, but I shave the rest of my face. I can’t stand the unshaven stubble look. I would not grow a full beard again because it would be too gray.
