George F. Will: State of the Union topic will not be Obamacare

**SNIP**

Obama probably also will urge measures to increase college enrollments. For several decades, both parties simply knew that not enough people owned homes. So, federal policy — mortgage subsidies, lower lending standards — encouraged more homeownership than market rationality would have produced. One exciting result was the Great Recession. Now the federal government, which simply knows that not enough people are getting college degrees, has fueled a bubble in higher education by funneling billions in subsidies for student tuition aid. To the surprise of no one, except the government, schools have responded by raising their prices — they are up 23 percent since Obama’s first election — to capture the subsidies.

The Center for College Affordability and Productivity reports that about 48 percent of those college graduates who are employed are occupying jobs that the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests require less than a four-year college education. Thirty-seven percent are in jobs that require no more than a high school diploma, and about 5 million are in jobs that require less than a high school education. About 14 percent of waiters and waitresses, 16.5 percent of bartenders, 18 percent of telemarketers and 24.6 percent of retail salespeople — not including the 14.5 percent of counter and sales clerks — have college degrees.

I think the lib papers put George Will on their pages so that people think the right is full of pompous asses.

The problem I have with Bow-Tie George, Kraut, Kristol and all the other supposed conservatives on the Sunday news/pundit and column circuits is that they insist on discussing Obama in the context of someone who is a qualified executive who should be in charge of an America, but just doesn’t seem to be able to ‘get things right.’

In truth, they should guffaw and ridicule this poser any chance they get. I don’t trust any of them. They are only in this ‘gig’ to get what they can and feather their own nests.

Maybe he could talk about the real achievements in his presidency. The ones that didn’t end in failure, that is. That way the whole thing could end start & end in the time it took to do the introduction & the network could use the remaining time for something productive.

These men (Will, Kristol, Krauthammer, etc) are simply analyzing the decision that Obama makes and the effects they think such decisions will have on America. They are quite critical of Obama’s decisions for the most part. Personal attacks and general criticisms of Obama’s character and worthiness to hold office may feel good to hear, but those sorts or remarks are in poor taste, are unprofessional, serve as poor arguments for the matter at hand, and give opponents easy targets upon which counter attack.

Trust me. I don’t like Obama anymore than you do, but the people in this country have chosen him to be our leader. Ridiculing the man only makes it personal to all who support him. The best way for these critics that you mention to go is to simply continue to point out what Obama’s doing and what effect it will have on the country. In the end, if the folks don’t care that Obamacare is a dissaster and that we are being dragged into socialism, then that’s what we get......and yes, it breaks my heart to even think what I just wote.

He’s decided to MOVE ON...

Liberals are like locusts; they mass, they destroy, then they “move on...”

Forget his SOTU mentioning Obamacare-—what I’d really like to know is how he’s going to get that *itch Michele to sit in the balcony and applaud for him.

Gonna take some doing-—she’s still smarting over the Mandela Memorial flirtation.....when Boobamba embarrassed her on the world stage.

Maybe he’ll bribe her with new diamonds?

A new house in the Vineyard?

Trips abroad?

Adding 10-12 to her 24-member personal staff?

Getting Valerie to siphon off govt money into a new PAC for her political ambitions-—yup, that oughta do it.

Don't hold your breath. Will, Kraut, Kristol, et al rely on others to publish their scribblings for them. They won't rock any boats.

Ridiculing the man only makes it personal to all who support him

Your sense of honor, decorum and fair-play is wasted on Democrats, and to a large extent on a lot of conservatives and others who have had enough.

The fact is that ridicule, derision and mud-slinging WORKS! To a Democrat supporter, it is all about feeling and 'personal'. Arguing with reason and logic doesn't phase them one doggone bit! They always resort to 'personal' - the kind of ad hominem attacks their media Shills and Party Pundits create for them in petty sound bites.

It is the primary stock-and-trade for Democrats AND the media when it comes to a Republican (one they're not trying to elect) or Conservative.

And, I still believe for these pundits I've identified, their primary goal is to be the Loyal (but not too vocal) Opposition so they can maintain their cush jobs and existence. They are worthless to us.

You are a cynical one, aren’t you? With that said, personal attacks by the Dems do always seem to work against the Repubs, don’t they? “Don’t argue the points, attack the character of the opponent....” Now, you’ve depressed me.....with the truth.

Still, you must understand that for the flower-people of the 60’s this is their last gasp moment to create utopia before they shuffle off this mortal coil. They now own the media, Hollywood, the music industry, and a sanctimonious attitude that has not lapsed in their old age. They are now acting desperate and unreasonable on many fronts (as Obamacare clearly demonstrates), but this time will pass. Trust me...someone some day will break out the calculator and do the math. It’s inevitable. The Flower childrens party will end because it must end.

Our job for now is to be positined for the time when the mathematical reality hits home. Screaming and whinning will not make us look suited for that job when it comes our way. And, as the only ones qualified to do the job, we better make damn good and certain we look reasonable and prepared for the burden. It will be a heavy one.....thanks to the summer of love.

I think it’s even worse. It’s true we are living with the fruits and flower vestiges of the 60s peace and power revolution, and those proponents are on the downslope to meet their maker.

Unfortunately, they’ve been very, very busy. Busy at enslaving at least two generations in their entitlement utopia; they’re working on the next and future generations, still.

The majority of those on SNAP, EITC, WICs, Section 8, ObamaPhones, mortgage programs, rent assistance, utility assistance, et al aren’t aged flower children. They are largely younger, healthier denizens who have become enraptured by the largess, and they will fight like whirling dervishes to keep it.

I agree, there will be some point at which they will HAVE to listen to something, someone. That will be when it all breaks down (BTW, most don’t even know how to USE a calculator), and they cannot be funded for the lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed. My guess is large scale riots, martial law, and a complete retrenchment of socialism to placate them. We will then completely become the third world as they gravitate to the next liar that promises them utopia forever.
