The Pentagon has approved a new policy that will allow troops to seek waivers to wear religious clothing, seek prayer time or engage in religious practices. Defense officials say the waivers will be decided on a case-by-case basis and will depend on where the service member is stationed and whether the change would affect military readiness or the mission.

Whatever Patton wrote about Islam was written in a time period when the majority of Americans had never heard of muslims and did not even know how to spell the word, and that included politicians.

Come to think of it — politicians still don’t.

And Patton’s words are just as true today as they were then.

" I've known a few Sikhs, would trust them with the lives of my family."

My local convenience/liquor store was bought out a couple years ago by Sikhs. The owner and his son couldn't be more nice to me, even better than the previous Anglo owners. I've had short conversations with the Son and he agrees that Muslims are the scourge of humanity, his words.

While I know little about their religion, it's probably likely that sometime in history they were conquerors as most ethnic/nationals were throughout history. Times change, and every Sikh I've met is as nice as can be. And no, they are not BSing me. I can always tell that from the look in a person's eyes and if their smile is genuine. I grew up in Los Angeles and learned some street smarts. I can tell.

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its
votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in
a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic
apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident
habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of
commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the
followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and
refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that
in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his
absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine,
must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of
Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the
influence of the religion paralyses the social development of
those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from
being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing
faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa,
raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that
Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the
science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization
of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient
Rome.”

-Winston Churchill

You are comparing apples to oranges. Sikhs are NOT Muslims. Do some research.

Or were you just ranting about the horrific religion of Islam? There we will agree.

If I was fighting Muslims, I would love to have a Sikh fighting along side. Maybe even a Gurkha.
Now....imagine a Sikh Marine division.

In 69 Ft.Carson Colorado We had a SIKH in 5th Med. BN. a lot of ignorant American soldiers thought because he had a beard and a turban he was a bloody Muslim. Not one of them could have bested him in a fair fight if he was drunk and they were not.Not one. And he was no slave of Allah.

Pentagon just announced a $25 million contract to develop Kevlar turbans.

Outsourced to Kenya.

Yes, they are determined fearless fighters. However, back to point, I still think that ALL military should wear the same uniform for their branch, that includes the females.

Female sailors should wear dress bell-bottoms with the stupid dixie cup (hated that idiot cup) on their head with NO hair hanging out the back. They should look just like any other sailor. Same with Marines, Army, Air Force. Women should have NO special rights to look different just because of their sex.

When I joined the Navy in '75, I graduated with a combination cover and a six button suit. Think that was Zumwalts days. That so pissed the CPO's and officers, the next Navy Secretary re-instated the traditional bell-bottoms with dixie cup. Thought I looked like a dork, but the girls loved it. Go figure.

The aboard ship working uniform was a light blue chambray shirt with blue trousers. Well, that didn't work for the latest Navy Secretary because now they wear some stupid camouflage that will make them disappear into the sea if they fall over board. On the up side, it doesn't show the oil, grease, dust, dirt, and other crap and doesn't have to be launder on ship as often.

The above is a perfect example of the hierarchy needing to make changes for their posterior...haha.

I agree. Cant have variations of dress. Its not a expression of a persons whim.
But since when has this regime cared about the defense of the country?

Wouldn’t want to be wearing a turban when the bullets start flying.

Actually for "their legacy". Someone please explain to me why upper echelon so needs to make so many changes every ten years? Does the Joint Chiefs of Staff have nothing better to do than dictate uniforms changes or what? Is it because the Cold War is over (not entirely), or they get bored in their offices, or they think change is always a good thing according to USA political correctness? Sucking up to Obama?

Now we're going to put women on submarines? Talk about a cluster f*ck with menstrual periods and getting pregnant, as happens on many surface ships now. I saw it happen back in my days when women weren't allowed on combat ships, but served on tenders/refuelers back in the 70's and 80's.

Raise your hand if you think those tight quarters will not give opportunities for the sexes to mix and define down the mission.

Think how that could affect our Tridents and supporting attack subs - the last deterrent against nuclear war. What the f*ck happened to my military full of warriors?

Then there are the obscene Rules of Engagement (ROE) that has killed so many of our brave youth, not to mention those who come back with limbs and face missing.

What ever happened to KILL the enemy as quickly as possible? The USA and England bombed Dresdan and other cities into oblivion and ended that war. We didn't care about "collateral damage". Then we nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki and also didn't care about "collateral damage". The objective was to win with less Americans dying.

War is f*cking hell as I was told by my Farther, but if we go to war, we need to stop pissing around and kill all. Then, being the benign people we are, we help to rebuild as we did with Europe and Japan.

There's a photo here on Free Republic that shows the difference between a post Hiroshima (with high-rises and bright lights) and the socialist destruction of Detroit, and it's ghettos. Why can't our leaders learn from the past? Oh yeah, I said it above - EGOs.

"I agree. Cant have variations of dress. Its not a expression of a person".

According to new directives from the Navy Secretary, Ray Mabus: " Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who has made gender equity one of his signature issues, thinks the days of women looking different from their shipmates is over. [Good, my word] “One of the things that I think we ought to do, is that when we look out, we shouldn’t see male sailors or female sailors,” Mabus told Navy Times. “We ought to see sailors. United States sailors.”

I couldn't agree more. See: Unisex Cracker Jack for Women.

When I was in the Army roughly 45 years ago, I remember seeing GI’s in turbans. When did that change? Was it the MVA (Modern Volunteer Army)?

The above is a good thing. If women want to serve on combatant ships, then they should look like every other uniformed sailor.

Now, if we just keep the Marine Corps from lowering their standards and also maintain our tech advantage, we may stay strong against future enemies. My thinking is now satellite based weaponry. China is already looking at it; so should we.

Hopefully, we are doing so in ways no one needs to know about, until the SHTF. IMHO, nukes are still awful in the wrong hands, but satellite based weapons could put the ultimate hurt on those who would attack our peaceful way of life.
