Over simplification, IMHO. And I sense a bias ...

Well... isn’t that the point (i.e. to keep the mother alive [yes, I know that she was diagnosed as “brain-dead”—which is a slippery and uncertain standard] until the baby is OLDER than 23 weeks)? If the baby were kept alive in the mother until week 26 or so, wouldn’t that have helped boost the survival probability? Why force the issue at week 23, when both of us agree that the baby’s chances are far worse?
