President Obama is making a sudden push to win back millennial voters, who have grown disillusioned over his failed “Hope and Change” campaign that left them without jobs, living in their parents’ basement.
Even though he has run his last race, the president needs the 18-to-34 age group to make his signature Obamacare policy work. Without them, the whole system falls apart — not tomorrow, today, right now, before the radical reform of U.S. health care can even get off the ground.
Just how bad is it? Just 24 percent of the new enrollees to Obamacare are between 18 and 34. The entire plan was predicated on a sign-up rate of nearly 40 percent, the idea being that healthy young people will pay more — much more — than they once did to offset the unhealthy elderly signing up for Obamacare.
In some states, the sign-up rate for millennials is abysmal: Arizona and West Virginia saw just 17 percent of the age group enroll. The White House, of course, predicts that number will grow as the deadline to sign up nears at the end of March (if you’ve got a millennial kid, you know they only do things at the last minute).
But the situation is far worse than just flagging enrollment of Obamacare, and the president knows it...

When Harry Reid is supporting marijuana legalization, you know the Democrat establishment thinks it’s going to win them votes.
A Hillary run is a gamble for the Democrats. Will the increase in women’s votes counteract the loss of some blacks who won’t bother to vote, and the lack of enthusiasm among the young for someone who looks like their grandmother?
And what percentage of the vote can they simply fictionalize?
That’s because initiative and even tiny capitalism violate the principles of Obama’s New World. Down with lemonade stands!

my guess is that the 18-28 or so will not vote in substantial numbers. Those 28 - 34 will not be adequate to make a difference.
Do you think maybe they’ve connected unemployment or low-paying jobs with Obama’s preferance for invader labor? Sure wish those “on our side” in the Republican Party would connect those dots for them.
That sounds reasonable. I think what will really matter is how the elderly vote. How much is the down economy affecting them, and are they feeling the pain regarding delivery of medical care?

It’s not possible for anyone to “bail” from Obama because he can’t run for a third term. He already got the idiot vote as many times as was possible.
I believe we are seeing a fundamental and permanent change in “The American Dream.” I think the basic concept of what it means to be a professional knowledge worker and have a career is changing right before our eyes.
Government regulation compounded by Obamacare is driving business to change how they are paying for their labor force. Going forward, labor is likely going to have to pay for their own - let’s call it lifecare; healthh, dental, vision, etc. - and they will move in swarms to where the work is. By swarm I mean you will align informally with groups/teams of people that have similar and complimentary skills and move to where work is. In turn, companies will have dramatically fewer permanent employees. For example, if a company needs to implement an new financial system, an “IT Swarm” would bid on the job as an informal group of 1099 workers. When the job is done, you move on. That is just one example and likely just one permutation of the phenomena. I think this change will also challenge what the traditional definition of a “business” is.
Social media along with increasing amounts and sophistication of automation will enable this new paradigm.
At the end of the day, I just don’t see the permanent jobs as we’ve known them in the past coming back.
The last three generations have been taught that they should get everything they want. When it got to where it wasn’t happening they started being told to blame the boomers. Then the obamacare idiots come along and think the younger generations are going to pay for old peoples’ medical care? Ha! So, now they’re being told “The older people will be killed off so we just need your high premiums for a little while.” And they’re still not falling for it.
Also, how many of those who signed up ended up on Medicaid or haven’t paid their premiums?
I thought ages 18-26 are staying on Mommy and Daddy’s insurance plan- those Mommy and Daddys who still have insurance plans

From what I’ve read, the premiums for those kids is very high.
They're certainly not going to turn around and vote Republican, as a group. But simply not voting, or going with a protest vote/minor party candidate will be enough to take away the margin of victory, and then some, Obama enjoyed in 2008 and 2012. The off-year election itself was already a disadvantage for the Democrats without "hopey changey" coattails, now, they're going to really struggle to get turnout.
Yes, and "elderly" means mostly those approaching retirement age, after which they will probably go on MediCare.
