Obama to lay out go-it-alone approach in big speech (Announcement of his coup-d'etat)

President Barack Obama will lay out a strategy for getting around a divided Congress and boosting middle-class prosperity on Tuesday in a State of the Union speech that reflects some scaled-back legislative ambitions after a difficult year.

Obama will make clear in his 9 p.m. EST address that he is willing to bypass U.S. lawmakers and go it alone in some areas by announcing a series of executive actions that do not require congressional approval.

White House officials said Obama will announce new executive actions on retirement security and job training to help middle-class workers expand economic opportunity.

"In this year of action, the president will seek out as many opportunities as possible to work with Congress in a bipartisan way. But when American jobs and livelihoods depend on getting something done, he will not wait for Congress," Obama senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said in an email to supporters sketching out the themes of the speech.

With three years left in office, Obama has effectively reduced for now his ambitions for grand legislative actions.

Voting will mean less and less until it means nothing at all but to condone a dictator for eight year terms. From there, it is but a short intellectual walk toward dictator for life.

Boehner and McConnell are complicit enablers. Every day they fail to confront the would be dictator, they strengthen Obama until we reach the day when he can no longer be limited at all.

May I remind you that many Freepers here did the same thing and got Barry elected a second term?

Sorry, but there just aren't enough FReepers to accomplish something like that.

There are too few real conservatives in government anymore. Mainly because the establishment tends to weed them out, and by nature those who seek power over others tend to be establismentarians. But I think always the choice should be the lessor of two evils, because inaction is often the worst of choices. Thomas Paine called government itself a choice of lesser evils.

There are many here that are proud enough to remind everyone of it, regardless of the numbers.

If he spend a dime without Congress’ approval, he MUST be impeached.

Congress must impeach the tyrant before he becomes so powerful that he will not be possible to stop.

The GOP is but the junior partner of the uniparty. We can vote conservative into eternity and it will not reverse the precedents set by Obama.

We must get out of the two-party, voting is everything mindset. National elections have taken on the attributes of mere sporting events, who is on offense/defense, celebrities, who will make next year's player draft, etc. Meanwhile, what is left of our republic suffers.

While I many sit out the midterm election, I doubt I could sit out the presidential election, despite the increasing irrelevancy of elections.

Einstein had a term for expecting different results to emerge from doing the same thing. Restoration of our republic and freedoms cannot emerge from DC.

If we are to restore freedom, our only hope is to reduce focus on national elections and direct more efforts toward our states.

Until an Article V state amendment convention restores federalism and returns far more power to the states, we are doomed to a dictatorship.

I read through dozens of comments counting the pro/anti Obama comments. They were overwhelmingly anti-Obama. Don’t know if that’s the venue or not. I stopped when I realized most of the pro-Obama notes were by one author, Aaron.

Is the State of the Sham-Wow tonite? I want to make sure, since I'll have something better to be doing than watching. Like re-arranging my sock drawer, cleaning out the fridge, knitting a sweater from dryer lint, washing the grout in the shower, contemplating the mysteries of the universe, etc.

I can’t disagree with anything you say. To get some real “change”(I hate that term), we need to get the half of the country off of entitlements. That is what is killing us.

The imposition of Obamacare has changed everything, and Obama’s narcissism doesn’t allow him to see what’s happened.

He is no longer trusted by the American people.

He is no longer seen in the same light as he was one year ago. Barack Obama no longer has gravitas with his own party. Because of Obamacare, none of them can even campaign with him.

This makes tonight’s speech different. I think he will be making a big mistake to use the words “pen” and “phone” tonight. Whether Republicans turn their backs, or walk out makes no difference. Pay attention to the Democrats.

He’s killing the party. Do they see it or not?

“He’s killing the party. Do they see it or not?”

Obama and his minions don’t care if they kill the Democrat party. “Organizing For Action” was not founded to benefit the Democrat party, it exists only to push Obama’s agenda. That’s what I find most frightening about this situation. As mis-guided as Bill Clinton might have been, at the end of the day he was a party guy and would mold his positions for the good of the party.
